Just watched Enchanted. I thought it was an ok film. I was really hoping for more of a comedy, kid of like a fish out of water story. It had some of that at the very beginning but they kind of screwed up a little. For instance during the Happy working Song how did she know what a vacuum was? Or when she cooked breakfast, how did she know how to operate modern appliances/stove?

The ending was kind of a letdown, the dragon fx weren't up to par and I didn't really like the talking dragon at all. The ending wasn't thrilling to me.

Maybe I'm looking at it from a guy's point of view, but on a scale of 1-10 I would likely give the film a 6.5.

I saw The Others on cable once. I thought it was a very good film. Good twist at the end too. (Which some may see coming from the beginning).

Enchanted any good?

Meijer has it on sale beginning on Thursday for $9.99, plus they have a $5 off coupon on any purchase. So I could get it for $4.99.

They also have Alvin and the Chipmunks on sale for the same price, but I don't know about that one.

Can't believe that Stop Loss only made 4.5 million and Superhero Movie made 9.5 million.

Oh well. I guess people would rather go see a crap movie compared to a better one.

Speaking of IMDB, there are already idiots judging the movie solely on it's box office. And of course childish name calling on both sides. Of course we experienced the same thing on AD board.

#1136 Re: Square Eyes » In Praise of Chris's Colleagues » 29 Mar 08 :: 22:48

Stop Loss is already on my dvd wishlist. Looks like a real good movie.

What's really sad is that it looks like it'll bomb at the box office. Looks like 21 and Superhero movie will make much more.

Speed Racer looks pretty close to the 1967 cartoon. I am so glad that they didn't change the Mach 5. Looking forward to the dvd of that.

I have already bought 2 Speed Racer toys.

No there are no more deleted scenes on I am Legend.

You get some digital comics on disc 1 and disc 2 is the complete alternate version with the alternate ending.

I went to Best Buy yesterday and they were basically sold out of the Steelbook.

Got these 2 from Best Buy today for $9.99 each.

Gee what a wonderful Spring so far.

Right now we are getting a nix of rain & snow and the snow is clumps of snow about 2 inches long coming down. It looks like puffs of cotton and when it's on the cars it looks like the car is covered with bird droppings.

Luckily, it's not sticking to the roads yet, just the grass and cars.

It's like Winter doesn't want to let go this year.

#1142 Re: All About Chris » All you IMDb jerks out there » 27 Mar 08 :: 17:21

Oh yeah thought of another one.

Why do people make a big deal about a films IMDB user rating?

I have never seen a studio use the IMDB rating to promote a film or a dvd.
Since the voting is open to dishonest voting (extreme voting 1 or 10) or other manipulation it's not an honest & true rating at all.

In a way I wish they would abolish the ratings all together.

#1143 Re: All About Chris » All you IMDb jerks out there » 27 Mar 08 :: 16:13

Gee is IMDB getting annoying.

Some of my pet peeves.

1. Why is it that people think their opinions are fact?
2. That they call people or films they don't like such things as "hack, untalented, crap, sucks" and other adjectives without any kind of statements to back it up.
3. Why do they continue to post negative things about a person/film whatever over and over again and again? Can't they post their opinion once and move on?
4. Make fun of peoples names - such as Shia LeBarf or Justin Timberfake or whatever. Do they think they are clever or something?
5. Instead of having a meaning discussion of a film/actor whatever it turns into childish namecalling either against the topic of the thread or other posters.
6. The rating system still needs vast improvement. As before it seems that the vast majority either vote 1 or 10. Why can't people actually give an honest rating to films/tv instead of voting in extremes?
7. People who makes posts such as "This movie is racist" (I swear I see that on just about every films message board), "This is the worst movie ever made" or the opposite "This is the best film ever made"

Gee I could go on and on.

I think another thing that really bugs me is that people who hate someone continues to post over and over on that persons message board. Can't they post their opinion once & move on? I dislike a few celebrities, such as Paris Hilton but I have never even posted on her IMDB message board because it's a waste of my time. Of course if anyone questions them as to why they continue to post their hate they say something like "This is not a fan board" Which is true, but instead of having civil discussions it turns into a childish tit-for-tat attacks.

Here is a link to a forum all about the movie, they also have some threads of pics of the cast and filming of the film.

I didn't go through all the threads so I don't know what kind of pics they have.

#1145 Re: Chris On Screen » Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!! » 25 Mar 08 :: 23:01

Weinstein was supposed to release Kill Bill in a set called "Whole Bloody Affair' this past fall. But that never happened and no news yet on a release.

They also go a lot of flack for releasing the Grindhouse films as 2 separate films.

My point is that they tend to not care what fans want and either make them wait with no explanation (Kill Bill) or piss off fans by screwing up a release of a film on dvd. So I wouldn't get my hopes up that they would actually release a dvd of this film with what the fans would like to see featured.

#1146 Re: Chris On Screen » Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!! » 25 Mar 08 :: 22:24

I think we'll have to wait until the dvd is officially announced as to what exactly they are planning.

The way they have stated their dvd plans is vague at best. All I got from the Reuters and comingsoon.net articles is that they will release both versions on dvd.

I can't find anywhere where they specifically say either separate or one dvd. "Both versions on dvd" can mean either. They even could do how WB did I am Legend and have a two disc set with one version on each disc.

#1147 Re: Chris On Screen » Bend Over FANBOYS... MAJOR SPOILERS!!! ADULT LANGUAGE!!! STAY OUT!!! » 25 Mar 08 :: 19:34

Why release 2 separate versions on dvd?

They can include both versions of the film on dvd via seamless branching, and have a second disc full of extras.

NEW YORK -- Lyle Lovett and Harry Dean Stanton are traveling with Justin Timberlake and Jeff Bridges on "The Open Road."

Stanton will play the grandfather of Timberlake's character, a young man trying to reconcile with his father (Bridges) as he heads home to his ill mother's bedside. Lovett will play a Memphis bartender who lends a helpful ear to Timberlake.

Writer-director Michael Meredith ("Three Days of Rain") is shooting the project in Louisiana and other Southern locales. Kate Mara and Mary Steenburgen also star.

Perfect Weekend's Justin Moore-Lewy and Charlie Mason are producing with Meredith, Jordan Foley, Laurie Foxx and David Schiff.

Odd Lot principals Deborah Del Prete and Gigi Pritzker are executive producing with Heidi Levitt, Scott MacFarland, Jason Hewitt and director Wim Wenders.

Lovett ("Walk Hard") is repped by Paradigm and Ken Levitan of Vector Management. Stanton ("Alpha Dog") is repped by Bresler, Kelly & Associates.

Southland is often described as a film that you either love or you hate it, there really is no in between. I fall into the love it group.

Some say that you need to read the graphic prequel novels, but I didn't and I understood it.

Granted that at times it is confusing and hard to follow, but I don't mind a film that makes you think. It is one of the best science-fiction films ever made. It's not a sci-fi film like Star Wars, so don't expect that.

There was much hype about the animated truck sex sequence, all that is is a commercial for a product. Also the JT music video type sequence is brilliant. The use of The Killers song fits and JT goes from creepy to tragic in just a few minutes. In fact I may say that he gives a performance equal to or even better than in AD. He's not in it much on screen, but that sequence is terrific imo.

Perhaps I'll create another topic to discuss the film.
