I'm going to try to post my favorite (slightly modified) Linus pic when I get home in about 2 hours. Sean, see if you can figure out what TeeJay did to the pic when it goes up. Stay tuned, Susannna...
Deb
I bet you will! Can't wait! Heehee.
Deb
I love Seth! I'm so glad he's a cool guy as well as a funny and talented and smart guy.
Deb
Yes, and you know, you can't put quality "adult" talent like Mary Steenburgen and Joe Mantegna on a show, give them excellent scenes to play, and then expect the show to skew super-young. But listen, the fault doesn't really lie with BH & Co. Sure, they caved in to pressure. But let's put the blame where it really lies --- Les Moonves. It was his dumbass decision to want the changes. It was his even dumber decision to kill the show when his "suggestions" didn't work. I would love to think that BH tried to maintain the integrity of the first season. But the truth is, by now she knows how the game is played and as she was in danger of losing not one, but two network shows in one season, she had to play ball. And she lost. Both shows. I'm sure she felt just as sad and angry about it as we did.
As for the commentaries on the S1 set, yeah, they're kinda lame. I hope they do much better on the second season set. Has anyone learned which eps will have commentary yet? Because I would dearly love for TPTB to try to explain Trial & Error without lying about what really went on behind the scenes.
Deb
Aly's Veronica Mars ep wasn't all that great as far as Aly content goes. You didn't miss much. I don't watch that show either, so I was kinda bored. I also tend to shy away from sitcoms. I prefer dramas. Especially ones centered around characters and families. I don't care much for cop shows or gimmick shows --- unless they are heavy on character. Thats' what it's all about for me. You mentioned Medium before. That's probably my favorite drama right now. Even though it's a gimmick show, it's a wonderfully character and family driven show. That's what I like.
I am ultra-picky when it comes to sitcoms. How I met your Mother is above average. It's very clever and the dialog is whip-smart. If you get a chance, check it out some time. Did you ever watch Freaks & Geeks? Really one of the best comedy/drama hour long shows in decades. The guy that played Nick on F&G is Aly's fiance in How I Met Your Mother. And Neal Patrick Harris steals the show almost weekly.
Deb
Yes, but we've decided that we're only gonna post strictly Linus pics on our site, Sean. And only on the Message Board. We don't want anyone getting in trouble and since we're still new and small, we're likely not to land on anyone's radar and upset the production company.
Deb
That would be hilarious! Do it! Out of sequence. With no page numbers. LOL! My fax is 404-250-9409.
Deb
Thanks Sean! And you know, somewhere down the road, you're gonna have to provide me with a copy of that script. After the movie comes out, preferably because I would totally spoil myself if I had it now. But I'd love to read it afterward. As a screenwriter, of course I LOVE reading scripts!
Deb
TeeJay, I wanna talk over email about the Butterflies timeline. I have some issues and some suggestions. Email me at the Yahoo address, OK?
Deb
My Chrissues are only party Chris-related. Last night, the website wouldn't work for me and that was really frustrating, but I was working on a fic and that was cool. But because of that, I was up way too late - 2 am. This morning, it took me an hour and twenty minues to do my 45-minute commute, meaning I was 40 minutes late. And now, our system here has somehow knocked itself out of whack so that Microsoft Office Apps won't work at all. We're waiting for the IT cavalry right now. So I can't email TeeJay. And I don't have the fic I emailed to myself here. And even if I did, I couldn't work on it anyway because Word won't function.
Aaaaaaaargggghh!
And I bet Kyle's getting pissed over this weather we're having --- 4th day in a row of rain and fog and clouds. I hope they're at least getting their indoor shots done.
Deb
PS: TeeJay, if you have anything you want me to see right away, forward it to my yahoo address.
Dudes, I am so up too late tonight! But Joan and Adam are talking to me and Grace just showed up too. This is very frustrating because I've gotta go to bed. But I'm finally figuring out a new chapter of this fic, I think. I hope. I haven't been able to get on the site all night and I was jonesing. And then, finally, as I was about to shut down and go to bed, I'm here. But I cannot stay.
Good night all. Hopefully, I'll get on with the reclamation in my dreams and wake with new ideas tomorrow.
Deb
PS: How do you post pics here again? I'm not sure how long I can wait to post "my" Linus. And Anne, you should post yours soon too. We should each get to choose one initial pic for our launch of the countdown. It's only fair, right?
Exactly, Susanna. The opening music cue in some programs just pulls you right into that universe. Especially when you really love it. There's nothing like a killer theme with intriguing visuals.
Deb
Damn, shrams, you are so exactly right. Beautifully put. Thanks so much for saying it so succinctly.
Deb
So much more to come, shrams...
Deb
Beautiful!
Deb
That's Roseanne, for the record. One of my all-time favorite shows. I love Goodman. He's the main reason I still watch Roseanne repeats on TV whenever I can. Here's another coincidence for you: Not only was Goodman in both The Big Easy and Sea Of Love. Ellen Barkin played the love interest in each of those films. Pretty weird.
Deb
People that go see this movie expecting it to laud Ep I may be in for a surprise. Ep I is so beside the point! These characters have very little idea what to expect from Ep I as the story goes along. All they've got is the usual Internet speculation and rumor. How are they supposed to know the movie's gonna be considered not so great?
It's just as silly to write off Fanboys based on the fact that one didn't like Ep I as it is to write of the ROTN remake because one does not believe such a "classic" (barf!) could ever be remade. God, why do the people at IMDb have to be so stupid? And redundant? I'm just so sick of it all.
As a non-Star Wars fan, I can say that I couldn't really care less about Ep I. But I would hope that if I found out I was dying tomorrow, some of my friends might load me up in their car and drive me to Kyle Newman's place to see an early cut of Fanboys!
Deb
I'm a sucker for killer credit sequences, especially the punctuation kind. Like The X Files. You gotta have that in there or it just ain't the same. And I love the titles for Medium for the same reason. They use it as punctuation. Buffy was like that too. Now there's a credit sequence I never, ever fast-forwarded through. It was always so cool. There are some credit sequences that are utterly meaningless and some that are annoying. JOA's credit sequence is a mini-masterpiece and I just can't stand not hearing the song start up. And since Chris is in the second season credits, I never get tired of seeing them either.
Deb
Yep. he's goofbally all right. Witness The Body Shake. LOL!
Hey, shrams, there's another thing we have in common. I love Aly too! I didn't bother with Date Movie but I did see all the Am Pie movies. I liked her in all of them, but the movies are just trashy and stupid. Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? It was so cute this week with Lilly and Barney.
Deb
I just want them to include the damn opening credits on every single ep. The fact that they didn't on the S1 set just really bugged the crap out of me. The opening of this show is always used as a punctuation mark. It's like a character unto itself and the eps just don't feel right without it.
Deb
Well said.
Deb
Hey, I guess I'm in the minority on this one because I paid to see it in the theatre on opening weekend and took my buddy Dave back to the theatre to see it again weeks later when it hit the second run theatre. I can't say I love the movie, but I do like it a lot. Guess that's because I really like Ryan Reynolds too. Have ever since he was on the Canadian teen soap, "15", all those years ago. I still believe he's gonna have a huge hit movie someday. He just needs material that's as good as he is and he hasn't gotten it yet. I loved him in Blade: Trinity, which is a pretty bad movie on the whole, but he's just great. And one of these days I'm gonna get around to seeing the Amityville Horror remake --- even though the original movie and book scared me so bad as a kid I had to sleep with the lights on for a while. LOL!
So, yeah, I adore Chris in this movie with the girly screams and the goofy faces and that great, great line, "Dude, The Notebook is sooooo gay!". Which it isn't! I love that movie too! Hey, Ryan Gosling. Yummy. And oh my God, do I love the extras on JF! If you haven't watched them, you have to. My avatar is actually from the Ken Doll clip. It's hysterical! And he's so damn cute in it.
Deb
I hear ya shrams. You are going to see some silly posts here from time to time, but we hope we won't ever get cluttered with the kind of mindless chattering you see most places. And I hope you won't mind our brand of silliness. Maybe even find it amusing yourself. If you ever saw some of the stuff we did over at Meslissa's board, you understand. We do drool. But at least we have a twisted sense of humor about it. And we drool creatively. In the usual ways, fics and fan art. And also through TeeJay's shirts and towels.
And we do have our very serious side too. It's kind of fitting that our board would be both serious and silly. That's who Chris is.
Having just spent a little bit of time with the guy, we know Chris is just a regular dude. A very talented, very handsome and charming regular dude, sure. But a dude. For myself, I can say that I have new respect for him. The genial and genuine way he conducts himself with all the people around him makes it obvious that he's simply a good guy. I hope that all the movies he has coming out next year will raise his profile hugely and everyone will see how unique he is. But even if he explodes, he'll still be just this really cool guy.
Do I have a crush? Sure. But I've had crushes for as long as I can remember. Nothing new here at all. Is that all it is? Certainly not. I'm just so moved by what Chris does onscreen. The emotions he evokes. We've seen so much already and yet I feel that we've just scratched the surface. He's a complete actor, but all his colors are not yet on display. I think, just wait. Just wait. You'll all see. There is nothing he can't do. And he will do it all.
Deb
How did shrams's intro turn into a rant about IMDb?
Deb
Yeah, the IMDb boards suck. I can't believe how much they suck. The JoA board over there is pretty decent, but it's an exception. At least people on there talk about what they like about the show. I just wish we could get the garbage cleaned off Chris's MB and the one for ROTN. It would be so much fun to talk about the making of that movie while it's in progress instead of going there and reading post after post after post about how you can't remake a classic. Balderdash! First, ROTN is hardly Citizen Kane. Second, I hate remakes too, but Hollywood loves them and they're not going away because a couple of ingrates rail against them on a movie board. Do they really think their blather has any power at all? If so, they are far more delusional than they accuse us of being.
And finally, let me just say that yeah, I think Chris is dead-sexy. But so what? Does that mean I think there's any chance in Hades that I would ever have the opportunity to act on that? Can you say hell no?!? I'm old and fat, he's young and beautiful. End of subject.
