From CHUD -
It's been recently reported that McG will be producing a remake of Revenge of the Nerds, and that he wants the original nerds to make cameos. Today I happened to have a chance to speak with Robert Carradine, Louis Skolnick from the original films, and I asked him if he would be coming in for a cameo. He gave me this scoop: it turns out he wants a bigger part - he wants to direct it.
Says Carradine: "I'm in the DGA, and I've been in the business for thirty odd years, and if anybody knows the story of Revenge of the Nerds, it's me. From a marketing standpoint it makes sense, and you know studios hire all kinds of different levels of directors to work on pictures. I've worked with really good directors on studio pictures, and I've worked with really bad directors on studio pictures. I like to think I'm a little better than the worst guy and try to be as good as the best guy. From a marketing perspective it makes sense, and preliminary talks are underway right now."
ALL OF THAT IS FROM JUST THE FIRST OF MANY PAGES THAT COME UP WHEN YOU GOOGLE:
Revenge Of The Nerds remake Kyle Newman
And that's all I have time for right now.

McG Herds 'Nerds' Director
Kyle Newman will helm '80s remake
May 1, 2006
McGProducers McG and David Manpearl have found their man to direct the entirely unnecessary upcoming remake of "Revenge of the Nerds."
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Fox Atomic production will be helmed by Kyle Newman (no relation to Mad spokesman Alfred E.). The project will now reteam Newman with screenwriter Adam F. Goldberg, who worked together on the upcoming geekfest "Fanboys."
Fox Atomic is, as you might guess, the new young-adult genre division over at Fox Filmed Entertainment. "Nerd," likely to go into production this summer, would be the first Atomic production to make it into theaters.
Released in 1984, the original "Revenge of the Nerds" was released in 1984. A surprise hit, the comedy made more than $40 million and was followed by several sequels. Not surprisingly, the plot involved a group of, um, nerds who got, well, revenge on the jocks and frat boys who tormented them.
The remake has a bit of extra star power behind the camera in the form of co-producers Bret Harrison ("The Loop") and Adam Brody ("The O.C.).
Other credits for Newman include the telefilm "The Hollow."

'Nerd' alert: Newman on Fox remake
Kyle Newman has signed on to direct Fox Atomic's "Revenge of the Nerds." McG and David Manpearl are producing the remake of the seminal teen comedy from 1984. The film reteams Newman with scribe Adam F. Goldberg, who is rewriting the latest "Nerds" incarnation. The pair worked together on Newman's upcoming "Fanboys," which will be distributed by the Weinstein Co. (Tatiana Siegel)
TeeJay asked me to post this: http://www.hollywood.com/movies/detail/id/3463810
There's a little more detail. Basically, it's a movie about a bunch of college nerds who get sick of being put-upon by the jocks and plot revenge. The original was a huge hit and is considered a classic. I'm not into remakes, as we all know by now. So Chris has to possibly appear in two of them? This and My Tutor? That's just great. Not. But whatever. If Chris is in it, I'll see it.
And contrary to what TeeJay just said to me in email, this movie is NOT an indie. It's a Fox movie and it will be marketed as a big studio teen summer comedy, I'm sure. I've already read a few articles about it on the Internet. But since i didn't know Chris was involved, I didn't pay too much attention to them. If he wasn't in it, I totally wouldn't care about it. I'll see if I can find some of those articles and post them here when I get a chance. I know that one of them had a brief interview with Kyle about what he wanted to do with the remake.
One thing I can't figure out: There was no character named Max in the original. At least that wasn't the name of any of the main characters. So I don't know if Chris is being offered the Anthony Edwards role or the Bobby Carradine role, but it had better be one of the two because they're the leads.

Check out IMDb guys, Chris may have landed a role in Kyle Newman's remake of Revenge Of The Nerds. Attached means it's not quite a done deal. But it would be very cool since Kyle, you will remember, is our beloved director of Fanboys. Obviously, he enjoyed working with Chris and has now joined the ranks of people who repeatedly employ our man!
Deb
Yeah, Susanna, Chris's storyline is definitely the best in the movie. You may be a little worried that the whole story will involve him yelling and crying for a little bit, but he settles down and has some very lovely quiet moments in the latter half of the film. Two particularly sweet ones --- one with Nikki Reed as Tally and the other with Marcia Gay Harden as his mom. It's not just about the meltdown. He's really wonderful in the movie, right down to the final shot of him.
Deb
Yes, the first GA is tonight. And Anne was right, his name was Denny. But I can't see Chris as that character. If I he me druthers, I'd prefer him in another romantic lead role on a TV show. Otherwise, we're never gonna have another character to fall for so hard as we did with Adam. And that's a damn shame. I'd trade James and Marc and Mason --- all of his recurring roles combined --- for just one more Adam-like regular role.
It's not out of the question that he might do it again someday. Many shows would love to have him I'll bet. Someday something interesting that a friend is producing or directing will come up. Or maybe he'll get offered a part on some really huge or really special show, and the time will be right. Maybe when he marries and/or has kids. He'd probably want to be home as much as possible instead of traveling all the time. He might take another show then. Doesn't help us right now, I know.
What I'd like to see him do in lieu of a regular role, is take every cool, quirky guest role on TV that he can get, like he did as a kid, and like Sean's doing now. Michael Welch does so many guest roles, he's becoming a HITG (hey, it's THAT guy!). Doing that sort of thing would allow Chris to shoot closer to home and it would still be different all the time and he'd be meeting new people the way he loves to.
Hell, these days, you see more interesting writing on TV than you do in film. Especially on cable shows like Huff. He could be on Weeds, The Brotherhood, The L Word, The Wire, any of these edgy shows. He'd get tons of exposure. People would really start to take note of him. Wouldn't that be fun?
Deb
Well, you'll have the AG DVD to watch next week. The picture and sound quality will stun you. So you can look forward to that.
As for no RT reviews. Weren't we just saying this at about this time last week for Exposed and then they all came in sort of at the same time? It seems to me that most people do their reading in the middle of the week when life is at it's most boring. Have faith. The reviews will come. If nothing else, I'm sure we will shock a few people with what we've done to A/J. I mean, we didn't really foreshadow it very much at all. I think they're going to be pleasantly surprised.
Deb
No, you won't be at my place next Tuesday. But I'll be taping it since I am a fan of Anton's for years, after all.
Deb
ANTON ALERT!
Anton Yechin will be in next week's all new, very intense-looking Law & Order: Criminal Intent. His hair's straight and short and kinda reddish brown. Very different.
Deb
My Chrissue today was that I'm sick and I couldn't go to work and had to go to a doctor and wait in a noisy store for prescriptions and I was in pain so I couldn't think about Chris all day.
I feel better now, so he's creeping back into my thoughts.
Deb
Thanks for the much needed giggles.
Deb
It's possible to not be Hispanic and be named Rodriguez. But it's highly unlikely to be named Jorge Luiz Rodriguez and NOT be. I still say I bet papa's Cuban because of the Stuart, Florida connection.
Deb
Doesn't have to be a remake, Anne. Just a role that you'd like to see him in maybe instead of who they hired for the part. I can't think of anythig right now.
Deb
She's probably 16. Give her a break. Hoefully, she'll understand enough English to get the "we're not official" and "we don't know Chris" parts of the email. I know it's annoying in a way, but it could be worse. It could be an "I wanna beat him up" troll.
Deb
So I guess that means Kyle liked the collage? Wouldn't it be funny if that ended up being like an official t-shirt or something?
And I fourth that question about the trailer.
Deb
It'd be cool to know exactly who released the pics. Especially considering that one of them is distictly NOT official.
Deb
Did you save every single pic of the CDs? I didn't. Too many of them were too similar and I thought, hey, I can always look back at the CDs anytime I want to.
Deb
Yeah, it's in there. I labeled it gansta because of the way he's holding the gun.
Deb
Which shot is that Anne?
Deb
As long as she's not some stereotypical stick-figure dumb blonde, I'm cool with whoever they pick. I just wish we could get more friggin' info on this movie. I'm almost fed-up enough to email the director. Almost.
Deb
Well, ok, what if the "attractive vollyball player" isn't a girl?
