Oh, is it a tat?  That's fine.  As long as there's not a stupid-ass CGI character in the movie, I'm fine with that.

Hey Susanna,

You picked some of our favorite moments there, too.  I absolutely love Friday now.  And that suit is fantastic, with the long coat and the cuff links and the tie pin.  Very elegant.  I used to hate the slicked back hair, but I got used to it.  And that kiss on the porch.  <sigh>  Just wish the rest of the ep wasn't so sad.

Hey, keep us posted on your impressions of S2 as you go along.  It's great that you're finally getting to see eyerthing.

We do?  Guess I'm out of the loop.  <shrugs>  But I'll try not a cameo by Jar-Jar ruin my anticipation of the movie.

#18506 Re: All About Chris » Your Chrissues of the Day » 03 Sep 06 :: 18:15

Just rejoined the land of the living after another very late night.  Yeah, we've watched a little of this show she loves, with this guys she loves.  He's pretty cool.  Older guy, kinda dark and swarthy.  She likes that.

I don't think Chris looks British either.  I've always thought --- and I used this in Butterflies someplace, speaking about Adam --- that he looks like a youth from a Renaissance painting.  Might be fun to see him in a period piece someday.

Anyway, we're still having a blast.  We'll be hanging out today, probably watching more stuff.  And then tonight, we're going to my friend Kim's house for a small birthday gathering.  I'll drop by and say hi when I can.  Hope everyone's having at least half as much fun this weekend as I am.

So we watched Jump and she loved Chris's voice and his nose. I told her to wait till she hears deep, bassy S2 vioce on my POS's speakers.  We're doing that tomorrow.  She says he looks British to her.  She liked the ep, said it was much better than she thought and really funny.  We're watching Vanity now because it occured to me that it's funny as hell and had some great A/J moments.  We're laughing our butts off.  This is the most fun I've ever had watching this ep.  She's also really into make-up, but funny and snarky about it and I knew she'd love Shelly Long and Goth God.  This is awesome.

My Chrissue of the day would be the long conversation I just had with Steph over dinner about how you and I tried the other day to figure out what to show her of Chris's work.  I was telling her about the JOA eps I was considering and why and she thought QOTZ sounded hilarious.  But then she said, why don't you show me the one that made you fall in love with him?  Ooops, that was T&E.  So I had to explain why that might not be such a good idea and I explained about the brilliant acting and the craptastc writing.  By the time this discussion was over, she said maybe Jump would be the best place to start.  So we're about to play a little bit of you show me yours and I'll show you mine.  NO!  Not like that.  We'll watch some Chris and then she'll show me this dude she's obsessed with.  Should be fun.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah, Anne mentioned that the German cover was nice and it certainly is.

And yep, we're still giggling. lol

You're right.  Because as I told you, I watched Invasion last year and it took me half the season to realize that the girl who played the sheriff's daughter on that show was the same one who played the skank.  So obviously, she's very talented, and a chameleon in her own right.  I was very troubled by the fact that I had to see the chick who played the skank on this show that I liked.  For about five minutes.  But she was so different that I forgot all that stuff and came to like her character on that show very much.

So Alexis, you go girl.  But you stay the hell away from my man!

Well, if I get it tomorrow, by chance, Steph will be seeing some meltdown action.  Fingers crossed.  BTW, she just went to crash and I'm still up.  We've been giggling our asses off.  I told her the story about my "Adam" - you know, how I accidentally let it spill and how much you and Dave have been teasing me about it ever since.  We laughed so hard, I literally had to change my pants from over-giggling.  Great start to the weekend.

I'm crashing in a minute myself, but I wanted to check in on you guys.

The thing that bugs me about that AG cover is the lack of Chris.  He's the emotional center of his storyline and they can't squeeze his face in on the cover?  It's The Tic code all over again.

Well, if you click the box where it says go back and register, it will then give you a message saying your registration was accepted and that you should soon get an email confirmation.

BTW, if you want to, you can sign up for the Broken Sky Films email list so that we'll get news about Calvin as soon as it's available.  Since I already contacted them once to say that we'd like material for our site once they start publicizing the movie and they agreed, I thought it would be smart for the three of us to sign up for the email list with our c-m.com addresses.  Go here: www.brokenskyfilms.com.

MIFED is the Internation Film Market.  They have what amounts to a big trade show every year.  You can take a look at their website here: http://www.mifed.com/default_e.asp

Basically, what happens at MIFED is that companies buy films for the International markets.  The annual MIFED issue of Variety is one of my favorite things to read because in it, you learn about tons of movies you've maybe never even heard of.  And once they're bought for the overseas markets, they're usually distributed here too.

Calvin does not have a distribution deal in place yet.  Could be iffy.  Let's hope it does well in the next round of festivals.  AD does, with Universal --- it's only held up because of the trial.  We don't have any worries about Fanboys because the Weinsteins already have it set up with MGM.

#18516 Re: Chris On Screen » The Invisible » 01 Sep 06 :: 17:24

Anne, this is totally normal for indie movies.  See, the problem is that just because you've made a movie does not mean it's EVER going to be released in the theatres.  After production and post-production, indies then have to go to market and find a distributor.  That's what the Cannes, Sundance, Telluride, Toronto and Tribeca Film Festivals are all about.  If no one "buys" the film at any of those fests, it then goes to shows like MIFED.  If no one buys it at MIFED, you can bet it's going directly to DVD.  Most of the time, indies do not have distribution in place before they start filming.  That's just the way it is.

I know it sucks, but there is absolutely no way around it.  Our only hope for our sanity is that next year, Calvin and Fanboys and Alpha Dog (talk about a long shelf-life!) are released and hit big.  Then, Chris's star will rise and he can get out of the indie game for a while and make some big studio movies that we won't have to wait so bleedin' long for.

Keep all your fingers and toes crossed!

One more thing:  I chose the Ken doll collage as my wallpaper for Steph's visit.  Would that be "no balls to the wall"?  LOL!  OK, shutting up now.

I was thinking last night --- and I will post this in that past roles thread at IMDb --- if they ever decided to remake The Graduate, Chris would make a perfect Ben Braddock.  With maybe Mariska Hargitay as Mrs. Robinson.  Not that I think they should ever remake The Graduate.  That would be blasphemy.  But if they did...

Deb

PS: Balls to the wall became part of the vernacular with the old Accept song of the same name.  It's a heavy metal song about rebellion, kinda hokey.  But the term stuck.

#18519 Re: All About Chris » If The Dorquettes Made Chris's Demo Reel, It Would Have To Include... » 01 Sep 06 :: 05:16

So, I'm going through pics, looking for a wallpaper to have on POS for Steph to see and I finally figured out how to explain to her why I love Chris:  He's quirky as hell.  And he's balls to the wall every single time, in every single role.  Think about it.  And yes, I think he's sexy.  But also, I think he's very funny and emotionally intuitive and just so damned talented that he could work forever, if that's what he wants.

Tonight, I watched the two hour Inside The Actor's Studio with Dustin Hoffman.  And it was amazing.  I love Dustin.  Tootsie is in my all-time Top 10 favorite movies.  That's who Chris is, I think, the Dustin Hoffman of his generation.  Maybe not what one would think of as conventionally handsome, but certainly beautiful.  And so passionate about his craft.  When Chris is 68, like Dustin, he'll be doing just this kind of illustrious-career retrospective interview.

Sean, can we have a link to the Jedi Council Boards where those pics are posted?  We'd obviously like to see them too.  In  fact, anything you learn about out there that we don't have, can you give us links?  We're so totally down with this movie too!  Not just for Chris.  We'd owe ya big time.  Thanks!

From Strong Med, I would pick the scene in BMI where Lu tells Marc he has gotten Olivia pregnant.  Come on, "define first moment" is classic!

From The Tic Code, I would pick the scenes surrounding Miles seeing his father for the first time in ages.  That's some great work.

The scene where Helen reads Elizabeth's letter to Adam in Jump would be on my reel because the silent agony that turns to relief that we get to see Chris portray is so powerful.

Cody's breakdown in TBAA.

The James/Byrd "biblical" scene would be on my reel too.  God, I just love how badass he is in that scene.

This reel is already getting really long already!
