That's my George Clooney dvd collection (also have the other Ocean movies and Three kings) now on to collecting Matt Damon's movies, already saw most of his work.
I've got everything (minus one or two films) from the following actors:
Ryan Merriman
Damian Lewis
Michael Welch (not everything on official dvd but I've seen everything he has been in)
I'm going to buy this in a few weeks:
If it wasn't for Michael I would never have seen Twilight in theatres. I really don't get the hype at all and I can't get through the books either. Anyways. I just bought season 1 of E.R. I'm going to buy season 2 till 5 as well. Oh, nostalgia .
I always buy my dvd's from the UK (play.com), all the seasons of E.R. are 30 euro's here, but in the UK it's 13 euro's.
It was great to see Doug and Carol again I'm watching all the old episodes again. I stopped watching when Carol left. I used to watched it religiously every week.
Ryan did a terrific job as well, but it's definitely Haley's movie.
I see it the other way around, it's definitely Ryan's movie, but maybe I'm too biased But the movie wouldn't have been this great without Haley or Ryan, there's a great chemistry between the two.
I loved it too! Matt playing air guitar to "Carry on my wayward son" scene just cracks me up every time. It has a lot of humor into it.
Ryanne wrote:Rex is Austrian. It was all filmed in Vienna. Might be a combined Austrian/German production though.
I'm not sure if it was Austrian, since they replaced the owner of Rex a few times. The first one was called Moser, i used to watch it with my grandma when I was visiting her during holidays. That was fun! LOL
A few years later I started watching it again and they had him replaced with some guy called Brandtner, I think and nowadays there's this other new guy. I don't even know his name, since, like Tina, I don't watch German TV anymore. At least not if I have enough English stuff to watch.
Oh well, doesn't really matter, we know that they speak German in Rex
Oh yeah, I like Richard Moser the best. I saw Brandtner but only in about 10 episodes thanks to the weird tv schedule of the Dutch tv channels. Plus I was bummed out that they replaced Moser. Never saw the third guy, don't know his name either.
Ryanne wrote:If you're thinking about a big, cute German Shepherd dog, than yes it's the same Rex! I used to watch it all the time.
I've never really watched it, but at least it's an original German show, right? A lot of TV shows on German TV are (cheap) rip-offs of US TV shows. Like they tried to create a German version or ER (which sucked).
I don't watch any German TV anymore, so I don't know what kinds of shows they're doing right now. However, I believe there still are a few good quality oringally German things around, like Tatort (which is how old now? 20 years? 30?). I also used to love Der Fahnder. Not everything that the Germans create on TV is bad, but I feel that there's a trend towards more trash rather than less these days.
Of course we also have our Germanized versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, American Idol, Big Brother and what have you. I don't watch any of that anymore.

Rex is Austrian. It was all filmed in Vienna. Might be a combined Austrian/German production though.
I also used to watch Wollf, not about a wolf It's a detective series that centers around the detective Andreas Wolff. I've watched a few eps of Tatort but it didn't appeal to me, just like Derreck or Der Alte.
Oh yeah, we also have the Dutchified (is that a word?) versions of Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire, American Idol, Big Brother and what have you. I don't watch any of that, neither do I watch any of the Dutch original series, except Baantje (a detective series).
Commissar Rex? Is it the Commissar Rex I think it is? LOL
If you're thinking about a big, cute German Shepherd dog, than yes it's the same Rex! I used to watch it all the time.
That's cool you bought Highway, Ryanne. It's a great Jared Leto movie!
Oh yeah! I love this movie, I initinally bought it just for the soundtrack, because it's briljant, but after watching this movie I just love it it's hilarious. Jared Leto and Jake Gyllenhaal are really good in it.
I've just bought:
24 season 1
24 season 2
24 season 3
Commissar Rex season 1
Highway (2002) -> Has 6 of my favourite songs in the sountrack!
Home of the Giants
Son of rambow
Got for Christmas from my sister and parents:
Commissar Rex season 2
Band of brothers on Blu-Ray!
I bought for my sister for Christmas:
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
Confessions of a teenage drama queen
I've bought for my father for Christmas:
Wild China (blu-ray)
Keeping up appearances (Christmas specials)
It's not just the number of theaters, it's also the fact that the Weinstein Company isn't terribly interested in promoting the movie. They basically just don't care if it does well or not. They'll just dump it in 50 theaters and I think they wanna see it crash and burn. At least that should ensure a quick DVD release. That would be one good thing to come of this.
Oh man, that just plain sucks. Why wouldn't they care?
Seems like Home of the Giants just can't get any breaks either. They were just about to sign a theatrical release deal when the financial crisis hit and the deal was pulled at the last minute.
On the other hand, Home of the Giants is now nominated for Best Feature Film and Best Director at the Best of the Midwest Awards.
Here's the banner.
What a cool thread, I always love to learn about other cities and cultures Will comment on your pictures later, don't have the time to read them all right now.
Here's my city, Leiden, where I was born, raised and still live.
I like this thread!!:P
MTV.com devoted a whole blog entry to Michael and his involvement in Twilight: http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2008/10/30/un … /#comments
You would not believe how many traffic my Michael site is getting because of that blog post!
Bought these recently, I'm a big Damian Lewis fan
My sister gave me Jeff Dunham - A spark of insanity for my birthday, and I gave her a dvd of Speed Racer of her birthday.
I hope this isn't too off-topic, and you can move it if it is, but I've seen a few posts here and there from our friends outside the US and I'm curious (well, confused) about what kinds of films you get where you are and what you prefer.
Hey Larry!:dancing:
I prefer the original version, with subtitles.
Here in America, foreign (non-English speaking) films are almost never dubbed. In fact, I've never seen one in all the years I'm doing this (except cheesy Asian martial arts or bad Bollywood movies on TV), and I've probably seen about 300 non-English speaking films just in the last few years. They are always subtitled. The same goes for DVDs that I get.
Awww, I love cheesy martial art films! The only film I've ever seen, that was dubbed, is Air bud! We get all kinds of films here, it's a really multi-cultural society so we have all kinds of stuff.
I've seen some of you talk about getting English-speaking films dubbed. Is this common practice? If they are dubbed, do you prefer them that way or would you rather they be subtitled?
Here in The Netherlands only the movies that are for children are dubbed when you go see them at the movie theater, and you can always choose to see the movie in the original version in the movie theater. As for dvd's, always the original version, plus you have the option of watching the dubbed version, that's the great thing about dvd's.
Do you get them subtitled? If they are subtitled, do you prefer them that way or would you rather they be dubbed?
If the movie is in English (Original Version) I prefer non-subtitled, non-dubbed. If it's in an other language than English or Dutch, I prefer subtitled. I don't like dubbing at all.
Do you ever try to get Region 1 DVDs over there and play them either with an all-region DVD player or on a computer with a region-free program?
I get them from all over the world, usually from the UK because they are cheaper there (and no shipping and handling costs). But some dvd's I really need to get them from the US or from Australia, like some of the dvd from Ryan Merriman, Michael Welch or Damian Lewis. The region code doesn't matter to me.
Thanks for the welcome everyone!
Those are really cute pics. You've seen ours, right? The photo with Mae, Aaron and Mike is beside The Blank, right? I recognize the purple wall. Ryan looks gorgeous. Did you go to the Venice Beach boardwalk? Anne and I went there on our last day, what a funky place. Chris also took us to Venice for lunch the day we met with him.
Yep I've your pictures Yep that picture was taken beside The Blank.
Yeah we went to the boardwalk, you bump into some crazy people out there!
What is it like living in the Netherlands?
Wet and cold! But otherwise alright
Wow, 50 theaters, that's not much! Lucky that you guys got to see it! Do you think that Fanboys will get a wider release if it does will in those 50 theaters, or is that it?
Thanks for the warm welcome!
D'oh! Yeah forgot to mention that, was in kind of a hurry when I posted my introduction message. My trip to L.A. was really great! Mike & Jill are the best! Speech and Debate is just hilarious! I saw it twice. I also met Larry Richman there. Saw the movie Lost dream at Ashif's (director) place. And spend a day on Venice Beach with Ryan Merriman and his wife Micol. Went to two concerts, Brant Bjork and the Eagles of death metal. Also met up with Jon (Mike's cousin) of the politickle teez. Jill was nice enough to let me stay over at her place George (mike's dad) is great too.

Thank you all so much for supporting Home of the Giants. I've been following the developments of this movie for a little over 3 years now. And I'm thrilled and excited about this petition Finally some good news. I know the reasons why this movie got delayed but can't discuss it here, I can tell you though, it's all politics. Also, I just learned that VVS Films is the distributor for Home of the Giants in Canada (2009, all media).
Here's the trailer and here is a little clip from the movie (2 scenes with Ryan Merriman). If you stumble upon another trailer, do not watch it, unless you want to know how the movie ends, the biggest mistake you can make when making a trailer, is to stuff it with spoilers.
Hey everyone! Been lurking here for a while now but finally registered. I'm Ryanne and I'm from the Netherlands. I'm the webmistress of Michael Welch Media, Ryan Merriman Fansite, Ryan Merriman Official website and The Bakery - A Damian Lewis Fansite.
I've seen Chris in a lot of things now, I think I saw him for the first time in the movie Lansky, with Ryan Merriman but only later after watching Joan of Arcadia, I realized it was Chris, he was so young in that movie. My favorite projects of Chris are JoA, A girl next door and Just Friends.
Been a long time fan of Michael (5 years) and Ryan (9.5 years). I really admire this website, it really sets itself apart from all the other fansites, it's not as generic and superficial as most sites. Well anyways, that was a little about me
