#326 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 30 Jul 07 :: 19:32

I FINALLY sat down last night and watched this film. It's still kinda sinking in but I will say that I liked it.
I honestly didn't know much about it other than JT was in it, along w/ Chris, and it was based on a true story regarding a murder.
The characters themselves weren't very appealing to me and I mean that as a compliment to the writing and the acting. (I did find them to be intriguing though) I don't really hang out with "those type of guys", but I have worked with guys like that when I managed a Pizza Hut many long years ago. So I had images of old employees running through my head as I was watching this...of course they didn't kill anyone as far as I know, but they were basically just a group of guys, with parents who didn't give a crap, or were never even in the picture...who just wanted to sit around and smoke pot and play video games all day, and then party all night. They worked a part time job to support this habit. Point being, this is a lifestyle that I do not live, yet I have been around and have seen first hand, so I found myself being sucked into the character's lives, curious as to how the story would pan out. I was constantly asking myself throughout the film, "What would I have done in this situation?". What would my friends have done, etc...
  I was very skeptical about JT in this movie. I'll admit, I hated the whole Boy Band craze a few years back and JT's solo stuff just isn't appealing to me either so I guess I unfairly judged him as an actor before ever seeing his work. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. He impressed me. I didn't really care for his character at the beginning, but as the story played on, I guess you could say I was concerned about his "fate" and believed his sincerity, even up until the end when he was putting the tape on Zack. That was a brutal and emotional scene.
    I thought Ben Foster was great as well. Something about his performance in X3 turned me off on him, I think it was the way he over-exaggerated his actions while flying, and the whole jumping out the building scene--no biggie I guess,...regardless, he was nothing like
Warren Worthington the 3rd in Alpha Dog!! smile He seriously looked like he was strung out throughout the whole film. He had the perfect look, the mood swings, the violent outbursts. Hats off to Ben-He owned that part!
   and of course that leads us to our man Chris. I've seen a lot of pics on the site of his Keith character and was looking forward to see how he pulled it off. Well, I thought he was great. Whenever I would hang out with a couple of my friends back in college, one of them had a younger brother who was always acting goofy and clowning around, but yet he was still kinda cool..that's who Keith reminds me of: The funny, nerdy little brother who you actually don't mind having around. Haha.
There were a couple of times where I was asking myself, is that really Chris playing him?? He looks so different from the Linus I know! LOL. He was awesome and the scene at the end when he hugged Zack was heart wrenching. Good stuff.
   Well, those are just my 'quick' thoughts after watching it. I wanted to go through the 30+ pages on this thread to see what everyone else had to say, so I'll try and check that out over the next couple of days. Like I said, it's still kinda soaking in right now, but I mainly just wanted to share my thoughts real quick with you guys.:D

All I'm saying is that I could lock up Ben with Kate, Jack, Sawyer, and Jin in a room for 10 minutes...and what happens happens. smile

#328 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 29 Jul 07 :: 19:51

LOL, I can't blame you! I don't want that image in my head either!

Shorts down to your fingertips? That's crazy?
I have short, stocky arms, so I'd be wearing hot pants!! :dancing:

Changing public schools as far as what I've seen in NM is pretty difficult,though it can be done  depending on what the situation is. They try and keep you in certain school districts to avoid school overloading, plus it cuts down on sports recruiting in most ways, which is a big deal out here and especially in Texas!

#332 Re: Square Eyes » Lost » 29 Jul 07 :: 19:14

I'm sure he will!

and yea, I'd probably end up abusing my Ben figure.

#333 Re: Square Eyes » Lost » 29 Jul 07 :: 19:07

Fanboys figures would be awesome! They could do all kinds of variations on them with accessories. big_smile

Yea, Jake and Kate's likeness look a little off, but the other's look really good ie. Hurley, Locke, Jin, etc... They say lines from the movie and also come with a small prop replica. Hurley comes with his winning Lottery ticket, Kate with the little toy airplane, Charlie comes with a Drive Shaft ring, etc...
The Series 3 will have Sayid, Desmond, Claire, and Ben. smile
I was just really excited when I saw the new ones at Walmart yesterday and wanted to share. Lol.

Well, believe it or not, I actually collect other things besides Star Wars "dolls" . smile

I'll be splurging at the video rental store when Fanboys is about to be released. Maybe the weekend before. So I'll be able to have the SW films fresh in mind. I swear, I'm training myself for Fanboys.

Good job!! big_smile

Another fun thing to do is watch all the SW tribute shows that they've been running this year.  They're fun and they give you an overview of the whole universe.

Also, I highly recommend the Robot Chicken Star Wars episode.  It's both funny and informative.  lol

Yea, you're right -the History Channel had some really cool ones on. Oh and I absolutely love the Robot Chicken tribute to SW. There's gonna be a Family Guy tribute too.

Who is that?

I don't know, maybe it's just a face I've seen Bruce make in a movie that reminded me of that Chris picture.
Here's a pic of him(With a dirty face):

I can see that. It would be the next season of The Simple Life. "Paris and Lindsay in Iraq". :doh:

LOL. Good point.
Today's episode:
Paris and Lindsay go on a search for the perfect purse & sunscreen in downtown Tikrit.

#344 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 27 Jul 07 :: 22:23

Hmmm....
I think you guys touched upon it earlier. Watching the movies again would be the best way to prepare. In fact, I think I will make this mandatory . tongue
They crack a few jokes about Episode One in Fanboys,(At Jar Jar's expense) but since the prequels hadn't been released at the time, you really only need to watch what we call the "OT"(Original Trilogy: Episodes IV-VI). big_smile
Which shouldn't really be punishment for anyone , even if you aren't a Star Wars fan. But you guys already know all that.
Once you have the OT fresh in your heads, you'll recognize a lot more of the quotes in Fanboys that are pulled directly from the movies, plus there's the cameos and sound effects thrown in too.
I'll be keeping track of who's seen what too! Lol

#345 Re: All About Chris » Chris At San Diego Comic Con 7/26/07 » 27 Jul 07 :: 22:03

I'm not sure what it is about the 2nd pic, but it reminds me of Bruce Campbell for some reason.

#346 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 27 Jul 07 :: 21:59

LOL.
Glad I could help! We've got geekiness covered from all angles here!

#347 Re: Off Topic Stuff » What's the craziest thing you've done lately? » 27 Jul 07 :: 21:57

Paris and Lindsay are like a bad rash that won't go away. Can we send them to Iraq?

#348 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 27 Jul 07 :: 21:50

At C4, they said that the lightsaber poster was just the 'Teaser', so hopefully we'll see the official one as the release date draws closer. I guess I don't mind the teaser poster(As long as we get an official one!) since it is paying homage to the old Return of the Jedi poster:
