I graduated from USC film school. I learned a lot about all aspects of filmmaking, made 9 movies which could be used as calling cards, and made friends who would be connections for the rest of my life. Every job I got in the industry in the first couple of years came as a result of connections I made at USC. I also left with a college degree.
That said, about half the people I went to film school with never really made it at all in the business.
I don't think I would recommend this new York film academy. You will pay nearly as much as college, and you won't get a degree. And Deb is right, working your way up from an intern can be a very good way to get into the business as well.
Is he pointing in 3 directions in the 4th picture?
:embarrassed:
Did I just say that?
I actually say this from time to time:
"That's part of your problem: you haven't seen enough movies. All of life's riddles are answered in the movies." Davis (Steve Martin)
Grand Canyon
Not the right scene or character but it was the only one I could find
There are a couple of us who live close enough. Topanga is part of the greater Los Angeles area. I would love to go, but with my schedule it probably isn't realistic.
FYI Kate Mulgrew is back. Not this week, but she has a small scene in the episode which airs a week from wedsnesday.
I couldn't believe they had Neil Diamond in blackface for the Jazz Singer in 1980, nearly 30 years ago!!
And don't get me started about Whoopie and her remarks about Polanski. I have always been a fan of Polanski the filmmaker, but I have been ashamed of my industry and the remarks they have made about Polanski the man.
I have seen it, it is just that I couldn't place him in any roles. But with your help...
Richard E Grant was in LA story with Steve Martin
who was in Parenthood with Mary Steenbergen
who was in JOA with...
Julian Sands
Kate, I haven't heard about any of these things. And they just sound like some individuals being stupid. I'm sure the world is not in an uproar about Australia.
This is pitiful. The only movie I can specifically remember him in is Whitnail & I and I can't remember anyone else in that movie.
What issues?
The Three Stooges were in It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World (that is what I was thinking of)which would have sped it up a bit
Sally Kirkland was in The Sting with Paul Newman
who was in The Color of Money with Forest Whitaker
who was in American Gun with...
Robert Conrad
At least you won't have to deal with the awkward situation with the guy's job.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I just heard we won the hour in the ratings this week, and our audience is growing.
Yeah, the last scene was really good.
She was in the first 2 episodes and she was pretty funny. I haven't seen her in any more episodes (although I am only on episode 4 right now) but I assume it will be a recurring character.
True, but it was always the 3rd stooge who changed.
Bruce Davidson was in Willard with Earnest Borgnine
who was in The Dirty Dozen with Donald Sutherland
who was in American Gun with...
The Three Stooges (yes in can be done)
Danny Aiello was in Moonstruck with Nicolas Cage
who was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Forest Whitaker
who was in American Gun with...
Sandy Duncan
Okay, Here are a few(I think low expectations may have something to do with why I like most of these)
A Cinderella Story (yes the Hilary Duff movie)
Dirty Work (the norm Mcdonald movie makes me laugh every time)
Not Another Teen Movie (make me Laugh)
Let It Ride (Quirky race track movie, not sure why I like it, but I do)
King Creole(it's here because it's an Elvis movie, but I think it really is a good movie and it was directed by Micheal Curtiz)
I saw Grizzly also when it came out. It was stupid enough to be enjoyable.
For me there are the obvious ones like Plan 9 From Outer Space, Glen or Glenda and Robot Monster that are so terrible that they are funny. For me the tougher question is the movies you know are bad, but that work for you anyway. There are some, I just have to remember them.
Adrian Brody was in King Kong with Naomi Watts
who was in 21 grams with Sean Penn
who was in Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Forest Whitaker
who was in American Gun with...
Fred Astaire
Agreed, but that was after Time after Time
I must be even older because I go back one film to Goin South, a dreadful movie, but she was fanatastic. That is the main reason I went to see Time after Time, where she was even better.
Happy Birthday Carol!! I hope you will be doing something fun.
No problem Teejay. As I said, I don't write them. I just hope it finds it's audience, and lasts.
