teejay, for a non=photographic genius your pics are pretty cool big_smile

simon, but what stops you from expanding you interests ?

#28 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 11 Mar 09 :: 01:28

deb, but why do even bother to read the posts of these imbeciles. kill themselves over a casting, really?  when i read stuff on imdb if it starts like an idiotic post i just click to the next one. what's the point to fight with idiots you don't know, and who may have the excuse of being children. unfortunately i , like everyone, still have to fight with the idiots i meet face to face, so i save my energy for them. tongue

#29 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 11 Mar 09 :: 01:21

this is mar adentro http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0369702/
it was the best foreign film at 2005 oscars.  if you saw javier bardem in some other movie before you will be really socked when you will see him here. i mean, i knew it was him but i was like - is he really? and the fact that almost all the movie you only see his face but still he manages to captivate the whole movie. just wow !!!

#30 Re: Square Eyes » Benjamin Button » 11 Mar 09 :: 01:10

i forgot it was a thread. and i even had a post here :embarrassed:

i was to see this movie with my husband. i did not think he will like it, you know being all macho and all. but as i was crying my eyes out when we left the cinema i asked him if he liked it and he had tears in his eyes too.
it's just a movie that touches you and i don't even know why. it a movie that doesn't make me think about it's characters after i left the cinema, they were secondary to me, but it still makes me think about the way it made me feel. and it made me feel good even if i cried.

#31 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 10 Mar 09 :: 22:56

lately i saw two very good films, in my opinion anyway.
i saw " mar adentro " which is a perfect movie. javier bardem is awesome. the movie is perfectly acted and beautifully directed. the movie is sad and yet not without hope. it is a movie to see and to feel.
and so is the next movie i saw a couple of days ago at the cinema " the curious case of benjamin button ". the movie is like a fairy tale and it just wraps in inside and makes you feel warm.

did anyone else saw these movies?

The whole PG-13 rating thing should probably tell parents that it's not suitable.   I love stuff like that though, it makes me laugh.  I just think it's hilarious people need websites to tell them they shouldn't bring their six year old to a PG-13 movie.  What did parents do before the internet existed?   "Can I take my eight year old to see Pretty Woman?!"

this is so funny lol you're so right, how did people do it before the internet ???? tongue

#33 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 02 Mar 09 :: 17:01

well i saw " mean creek " last night. i was pretty socked about how much josh peck changed since that movie.
i have to say i liked the acting in the movie a lot but not so much the plot. it seemed somehow forced, to me at least. or maybe i can not see it from that point of view. my mother would have never let me go to a bunch of strangers birthday in the middle of nowhere without at least talking to them first and maybe even a parent. nor would i ever had gone with someone who actually was not my friend and also i sort of beat them up for fun on my spare time. also he drown so fast and they all just stood there and stared.and the tape was still ok after being the water?
and the ending seems so rush.

#34 Re: Square Eyes » Oscars Nominess (2008 films) » 24 Feb 09 :: 21:28

they did the same with the actors, each of the former winners presented one of the nominees and de niro got to present sean penn.

i get it. thank you guys.

ps : i will be a little off topic here. but i just wanted to say that i feel like a stalker of larry on imdb ( i can assume it's not a huge coincidence and it's the same larry ). following larry's posts i got to know about lots of not so well know movies and watched them and really enjoy them. so i guess, thanks larry smile

#36 Re: Chris On Screen » The Education Of Charlie Banks » 23 Feb 09 :: 23:19

i really wish i could see this film. everytime you guys bump this thread i visit it and i think " wouldn't it be nice if i could see any movie i wish? "

#37 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 23 Feb 09 :: 23:17

larry do you know how much they spent for making the movie? i mean i am curious what sum does it have to reach in order for them to make a profit ?

#38 Re: Square Eyes » Oscars Nominess (2008 films) » 23 Feb 09 :: 23:15

samsy-marie, you can watch milk even if you know what happens because it is not about the ending , it's about the story and it's an acting lesson from sean penn. like de niro said in his speech " how did you get away with playing straight men all these years ? " tongue de niro's speech about penn was funny.

#39 Re: Square Eyes » Oscars Nominess (2008 films) » 23 Feb 09 :: 14:28

i did watch it last night. thanks to pro sieben big_smile

i actually like the oscars this year. hugh jackman was a nice surprise for me. he was funny and he can sing plus he is gorgeous. i like tina fay and steve martin, very funny. lots of funny jokes all night.
and i had my wish granted sean penn won smile yeyyyyyy!!!!!

#40 Re: Square Eyes » Friday Night Lights » 17 Feb 09 :: 14:52

i don't know who the guy is but i understand the sentiment. big_smile

#41 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 15 Feb 09 :: 17:47

after i watched last night's film i searched imdb to see if josh stared in other films and mean creek seemed to be a good movie but a hard to see one. and i also understood that he used to be fat. oh well, he still is a little chubby ( is this the right word? ) in the wackness but this  just makes him adorable.
if you guys recommend mean creek then i will watch it.
i really like seeing movies that are not blockbusters and see talented actors that should get more attention. i really did not know chris could have been in it, it would have been great.

#42 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 15 Feb 09 :: 02:31

i saw this very cute little movie called " the wackness ". i never heard about the movie and just happened to watch it. the script has many flaws but the two main characters, which are almost all the characters in the movie, are played so beautifully that it makes you, or at least it made me, forgive the flaws of the script.
the two actors are ben kingsley which we already know is a good actor but the other actor is this young guy i never heard about before named josh peck. josh peck is amazing.
oh, well, i am glad i saw it.
it's almost no action in this movie but somehow it manages to be beautiful.

#45 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 25 Jan 09 :: 16:55

i saw twilight last night. i have not read the books so i am only speaking about the movie here.
overall it was an enjoyable movie.
but the beginning sucked big time. i mean it just does not take the time to make you care about bella or edward and to make you understand why they fall in love. i mean ok edward is hot all right, but doesn't one need a little more to fall in love to the point where you are willing to give up your life for that person?
and to way edward falls for bell that is a mystery .
but after the fall in love the movie is quit nice and their relationship is cute and makes you like them
the fianl battle thing is a little to underdone for my taste. i mean it didn't seem dangerous at all after all.

does the book take more time with explaining how they fall in love?

#47 Re: Chris On Screen » Race To Witch Mountain » 25 Jan 09 :: 16:44

so guys, chris is gonna be in this 100% ? because i was to the movies last night and there was a promo for race to witch mountain. as the trailer went on my brain started to make the connections and i was like - oh, oh, this is the race to witch mountain. so i will ruin my reputation by going of my own free will to a movie staring " the rock "  tongue

#48 Re: Square Eyes » Lets post some mini-reviews and recommendations! :D » 21 Jan 09 :: 02:40

i don't know if you guys already talked about it. i saw slumdog millionaire last night. well, it's a cute movie but it really didn't blow me away. maybe because i don't believe in destiny.
anybody saw it?

#49 Re: Square Eyes » Benjamin Button » 07 Jan 09 :: 03:20

everybody who saw it said to me it's lovely. but i would really want ot see it in cinemas rather then .... from the net. so i hope it comes in romania soon.
i plan to see australia this weekend. i am also curious about this one.
