Thanks for the input Kate!
A decent first day back Kids were so nervous for their science fair projects. They did a great job though!
I agree - the movies that are nominated I felt were mediocre compared to years before. I feel like tv these days are much better. I was happy Jessica Lang acknowledged such great writers for American Horror Story because its gotta be the most interesting material out there. The Oscars are going to be interesting.... we'll see what happens!
An amazing man indeed. One of my favorite MLK quotes: "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
Kind of an uneventful evening...
It would be interesting to see how many awards went to those affiliated with fox searchlight and showtime. Aren't they also affiliated with NBC?
Nicole Kidman is so tiny... Glad Woody Allen won for Midnight in Paris - I've loved the films he's done these past few years - Match Point and Vicky, Christina, Barcelona.
I'm a little behind since I started it 45minutes into the program. THat's awesome to hear about Jessica Lang! I was rooting for American Horror Story too. A lot of these shows I do not know since they are HBO, showtime, etc. Homeland only is getting good praises - glad the actor from Game of Thrones won. He's in sooo many roles and its good he was recognized.
Glad Mildred Pierce won, I love Kate Winslet and I loved the 1940s version of Mildred Pierce. One of my favorite movies.
anybody watching? Johnny Depp is looking really good as always. I just started watching it on the dvr.
Good movies I've lately watched on DVD/Blu-ray are:
Monsters (alien invasion post-apocalypse, but less action and more character focused)
The Road (very depressing post-apocalypse, but brilliantly acted)
The Town (Jeremy Renner ftw!)
Unstoppable (action all the way)
Leaves of Grass (very whacky drama/comedy mixture with Ed Norton playing identical twins)X-Men: First Class is also worth seeing if you haven't already.
-TeeJay
Good suggestions Teejay. I loved The Town, I liked The Road just alright - I had read the book and wasn't too impressed with it, but I agree that the acting is excellent. I want to see Leaves of Grass and Unstoppable.
Trying to figure out how to teach in England. Always been a dream. Anybody living outside of the U.S. have any suggestions of how I can start this process? I know getting a visa for one...
Golden Globes are tomorrow. I always watch because I like the fashion too
I surprisingly had a calm week. A 3 day weekend is nice, even backed up with a saturday school next weekend! I'm actually going to see an exhibit at the Dallas Holocaust Museum and filling out a volunteer application so I'm super excited about that. They have some interesting exhibits and workshops it seems like and the people have been really great communicating and understanding too.
I could use a fun night out like that! If it wasn't on a school night I would have driven down to austin to see it and driven back!
No, John is a friend on Facebook, he posted his new painting and I just love it because I've become quite attached to butterflies.
Understand Deb!
bracing myself for another work week. At least its followed by a 3 day weekend! weekends have finally cleared up so hopefully this semester won't be as busy on the weekends as it was last semester. Its hard to be busy both during the week and then have no time even on the weekends!
I agree -Although I like routine and I like being around the kiddos - just not the stress an nauseous feeling I get from it!
Pretty picture Deb, is it yours? Almost looks like a Louis Comfort Tiffany Stained glass
Tomorrow is Friday! That means the weekend is here! Can't believe the week has already passed. It was good to see the kiddos again. Hope you guys are having a good week to a new year. It's been rather quiet around here....
I repeat my 5th grade on how he feels about JB:: "eh, I don't love him but don't hate him either."
Just ate some black eyed peas - maybe tomorrow will be luckier than today ? I hope so!
Have you gotten the dvd of Planet of the Apes yet Deb? Any good bonus features?
Just watched 'Bolt' for the first time through netflix. I think it could quite possibly be the cutest movie EVER!!!!
I actually had a great new year's weekend and ruined it by checking work email. Now I feel nauseous. Praying for an easy re-entry into work tomorrow. Trying to be optomistic of the future.
I know this doesn't have to do with Amber, but just the connection with The Unusuals and Jeremy Renner --. I watched Jeremy Renner on Jimmy Fallon and he was quite charming. If you haven't seen Mission Impossible you must! IT's great fun - a good new years eve movie if you don't have any plans. Jeremy Renner will make a good second in line to the Mission Impossible movies if Tom Cruise ever considers retiring from them. He did a great job, and he's already taking over the Bourne roles that is super exciting!
sounds like a good idea. Looks like I might be by myself, but that's okay I think....I think I'm going to marathon Lost. I haven't watched it in a while! Nice idea act the champagne. I was just gonna get some wine and order a pizza! maybe snuggle with my parent's dogs, that I call my dogs
Sounds like fun! I have yet to decide what to do, but I will probably be doing the same thing....marathoning something!
Yes I was quite impressed with it when I went! Glad you were able to enjoy a good birthday lunch Deb! You deserve it!
Yes we do! I don't go there often as there are some other mexican restaurants I prefer but Its definitely very good! I like there sauce
Happy Birthday Deb! Glad you liked your lunch at Chuys!!! Great picture of Chris!!!! Hope your afternoon passes quickly so you can enjoy yourself tonight too!
Any New Years Plans?
