Have you all heard about her new movie 'Main Street?"
"Main Street": The denizens of Durham, N.C., must adjust to a newcomer (Colin Firth) toting some unusual products. The script by playwright Horton Foote has been described as low-key, with a cast that includes Orlando Bloom, Patricia Clarkson and Amber Tamblyn.

Love Colin Firth.  Think I remember hearing about it a while back but didn't know Amber was involved.  Sounds good!

Sounds like a good plan to both of you!  A busy weekend for me, but definitely a planned pajama day Monday!

Sounds more like it's gonna be an expose rather than a sympathetic portrait.  I can almost guarantee that no one will EVER make a movie about what a swell guy Karl Rove is.

smile  Don't know much about Karl Rove, but I could see Paul playing someone not so swell as you say smile   Saw Harrison Ford on Conan about 'Cowboys & Aliens.' And they BOTH only had GREAT things to say about him.  He was in a movie with Michelle Williams, Meek's Manor, that showed here in Dallas for a few weeks.  Wanted to see it but left the theater too fast!

I think i have the regular edition.  Still comes with a lot of features though.  Unless I get bored with this one I'll probably keep it. I got it on a really good sale at Best Buy!

Was bittersweet to watch the last episode of Freaks and Geeks last night.  Can't wait to see the commentary.  There is one for each episode and some have two! I've decided I like Jason Segel better as a tv actor and not movie actor (although I'm looking forward to the muppets).  I prefer James Franco as a movie actor and not a tv actor.

just had a frustrating and upsetting experience with a friend.  please respect the time you spend with your friends and don't treat them like an errand to check off your list of things to do.  Definitely learned a lot about said friend and now know what to expect from her in the future.

#658 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 28 Aug 11 :: 02:09

crazy. A friend of mine is visiting new york and she says the streets are eerily quiet.

Deb, I made that picture my new display on my desk top so I see it each time I turn on my computer.  Makes my day. I actually forgot I had.  It was such a nice surprise when I turned on my mac after work! smile

I love Hallmark.  That's fun - he also guest starred a long time ago on Touched by an Angel that I saw not to long ago on Hallmark channel.

Very charming guy.  Seems like a neat person.  Can see why people want to work with him so much.  My friends and I were saying when and if he retires Serkis should start a school for that type of acting.

I just read about Charisma and James visiting Supernatural.  How awesome is that?  Seems like a lot of Buffy alumnus are coming out again this year.  It's exciting

Phil Hartman seemed like a great man.  I remember his saturday night live cast giving his memorial at an award show and trying to hold back the tears!
Glad you are doing better Kate!  I've never had chicken pox before so I'm praying I won't be on your boat.  Especially since I teach.  I can imagine how hard that was to go through.

A very somber birthday party will take place for me tonight.  Maybe I'll watch some infestation to pick up the mood beforehand.

#672 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Book Thread » 17 Aug 11 :: 05:47

Loved reading Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  Gonna wait I think 6 months to pick up the next one.  I picked up 'Hunchback of Notre Dame" for my fun read.  I like to go to a classic after a couple of new current ones.  Then i signed up for this class that will discuss and read 'Purgatorio' from Dante's Divine Comedies.

Better day today.  Just taking it one day at a time....

Interesting conversation happened at lunch when I brought up shark week with a student and we talked about Shark attack 3D and then he went into how he saw a woman on the news to swim across from Florida to Cuba!  The conversation got deep from there.  I love fifth graders!

Pretty interesting to read and watch.  Serkis is amazon, definitely deserves an oscar nod.  So hard to reach that type of emotion with no words.  My friend and I were just talking about that the other day.

I agree that although Franco is talented, Serkis definitely steals the show in this one.

I did start watching Freaks and Geeks though again as a a little pick me up for the week.  Such a great show.  I never watched it all the way through when it was originally on.

So, for now I've given up my plans of getting a dog of my own when I have a new job. It just depends if I can afford having a part-time-job. Because with a full-time-job keeping a dog can be complicated. So it's either a full-time-job and a cat or a part-time-job and a dog.

I would recommend a cat (even though dogs are my favorite).  Although they need as much loving as a dog, they are much more independent and can be left at home for longer periods of time if you do get a full time job.

Still so tired.  All I want to do is sleep this afternoon.  Definitely missed yoga.  This was the last way I wanted to start the school year.  Every evening I would come home and just crash last year, kind of depressing.  Was hoping not to do that this year.  Just hard to get that much energy at the end of a long day.  It has to be right from work, if I go home, I'm finished.  All I want to do is rest.
