Guys, I have a new Chrissue again, and this time it's really funny.
I was burning some stuff for Tina and it took such a looong time that I went into the livingroom to see what my mom watches on TV. It was about midnight and she was sleeping already on the couch, but the TV was still on. I was a little confused because they were talking English and there were subtitles, so I looked at the TV text what it was. It was a documentary called "Behind the couches - Casting in Hollywood" and I thought, wow, that sounds interesting (and it explains why they are showing this in English with subtitles), maybe they show something of UTA or so (which they didn't, they showed another Casting Agency). Unfortunately I had missed the first 25 minutes but it was still interesting. They showed how a casting in Hollywood works and they didn't do it only from the Casting Director's sight, they also showed how it is for the actors, so it was really like a look "behind the couches" as the title said. And the funny thing was, they interviewed a lot of Casting Directors, for example the woman who casted the Harry Potter Cast and - now it's going to be funny - the Casting Director of "The Notebook". And I thought, oh cool, The Notebook. Maybe that guy has done more castings for Nick Cassavetes. So I checked imdb after the documentary was over and I found out that he was also the Casting Director of Alpha Dog and Freddie vs. Jason! So here's the Chris connection. I have a lot of funny coincidences on TV lately, huh? ![]()
Do I hear new Butterflies stuff coming? Cool! I really look forward reading it! (Uh, not sure about the grammar right now. LOL)
And Anne, you should post yours soon too. We should each get to choose one initial pic for our launch of the countdown.
Next week it's you turn, Deb, and I'll post my pic the week after next week, no worries.
That's Roseanne, for the record.
Oops. Sorry, that was a typing mistake. LOL It's late already. Of course I meant to write Roseanne, not Roxanne. ![]()
And yeah ... that Ellen Barkin thing is indeed a little weird.
Well said, Deb.
I finally have an own Chrissue of the day ... or maybe for the last two hours, because in Germany it's almost 10pm already.
My mom made me watch this thriller movie with her, "Sea of Love" with Al Pacino. I didn't like the movie that much but the funny thing was, it had John Goodman in it, and I've seen him in some other movies and quite a few times on "Roxanne" on TV. And then we had a little discussion about John Goodman being one of the bad guys from "The Big Easy", my mom's alltime favorite movie. I didn't know that he was in it, so I went to imdb and checked his credits. And there I saw, yes he was in The Big Easy and then I discovered that ... <drumroll> ... he was also in the 1984 original of ROTN! What a coincidence! ![]()
Yeah, me too. I have to have the credits on the TV shows I like. Without them it's not the same.
We have clips from the extras on the website. Maybe you like to check them out there.
Yeah, it's sad that they cut the opening credits out of the most episodes. The opening credits just belong to the show.
Well said.
I second that.
Yeah, the extras are so cool. I love the Ken Doll quote. LOL I still have to laugh a lot when I watch it.
The movie has its funny moments and they are worth watching it, no question about that.
Can I just say that I love Medium more than GW because Joe and Allison have a lot more arguements than Melinda and her way-too-perfect Jim? (Sorry, maybe this doesn't explain right what I wanted to say, but I have to do it that way, because my English isn't so perfect.) I mean, I watched the first season and it was kinda nice because I didn`t need any subtitles to understand it, but they had their perfect marriage in a perfect house in their little perfect world and this is a little TOO perfect for me. And, I have to admit it, it's boring. But watching Medium was never as boring as watching GW, even if I didn't understand Medium that perfect.
They might have coupled Adam with a really hot and anorexic teenager with lotsa boobies (can you say the Duff sisters??), made him really hip and trendy all of a sudden and have Joan fall for this bad guy who just hung around drinking beer all day and made her discover smoking weed is actually really cool. And, yes, CBS, I'm sure all the kids would have loved that.
I'm sure the kids would have loved that, but I'm pretty sure that it would have made me stop watching the show because that's so typically cliché, like all those typical teenage shows like The OC and I hate shows like that. Their not very realistic. I mean ok, talking to God may be not realistic either but they did develop the show in a very realistic way which was - to me - way more realistic than The OC.
That's what I love about getting my TV shows off the internet: No commercials.
But, yeah, I'd take any excuse for watching the second season again. I just hope they didn't cut out all the great songs again. I bet they replaced Anna Nalick... hopefully not with something that sucks too much.
I second that. I hate commercial breaks and I also hate when they change the music on the DVDs. Last season they cut out Avril Lavigne's "Tomorrow" from the Pilot, which was sad, because it's one of my favorite songs.
I second what TeeJay said, I don't like the movie as a whole either, I just love the Chris parts. LOL I mean, I prefer him doing drama, but JF is a "nice" possibility to make myself laugh. Thank God there's also GND, this is a comedy I like to watch more than once, but I don't think I would spend any money for Just Friends if there wasn't Chris in it.
Yeah, that's kinda weird. But it's the same guy as in GND and JoA. I really hope, I can catch JF without dubbing here too, though I doubt that they will show this movie undubbed. But you can never know ...
Yeah, I just checked the ROTN board and I was like, WTF is going on there?
I read this thread where someone insulted you personally, Deb and Tina, but the main post was deleted already. They should really clean off all that rubbish. I mean, I never posted on the ROTN board, but this time I hated that my English isn't good enough to post something there. But hey, even if I would be good enough to post there - it wouldn't help anything. These people are idiots and if they like to post such rubbish there, let them do it. We have no need to care about that, right?
I could try something after I finished my Lost Secrets Story. This is more important to me at the moment, sorry. ![]()
Me of course. Man, I could say so much more to this but I can't because my English sucks again. ![]()
Sorry for ranting, I'll shut up now.
Well said, Tina.
I'm having some issues with another (non-Chris) discussion board I'm on, which seems to have been invaded recently by teens who want to discuss everything but The Actor. All they ever say about him is how hot he is, etc., but they don't have much to say about his projects. Instead of in-depth, serious discussions, they want everything to be "funny" and light. The problem is, not everyone has the same sense of humor. Quite a few of the people I used to discuss things with have left the board, so I hardly ever post there anymore. It's nice to find a place where people want to discuss things in detail, analyze characters and motivations, and all those other fun things.
Yeah, there are a lot of boards like that out there. This is kinda sad, because I don't limit my interest in an actor to how hot he is or whom he is dating. In fact I don't care about that at all, my main interest is about his WORK and on those boards you can't have a serious discussion about that. So I am happy that we have created this place here, because on this board we can have serious discussions and we can also be funny, that's great. ![]()
But I think that if there had been a third season, we might've seen Adam fall even more from grace before he was redeemed because I think Ryan had big plans for him. I think there would've been quite a battle between Joan and Ryan over Adam. Because no matter what, Adam was always so very important to Joan. Ryan knew that. And he would've done everything in his power to corrupt Adam and separate him from Joan. I think that might've been very interesting.
Yeah, that would have been indeed interesting. Good point!
And TeeJay, I don't think Chris would've felt stuck in a rut playing Adam if all that stuff had taken place. He would've had a a lot of conflict to play.
I would have loved to see that! <sigh>
I wouldn't mind a spin-off.
Unless there is no reunion with Joan. <sigh> They were my alltime favorite couple on TV. And I think this is not going to change.
But I just can't stop getting attached to shows.
Yeah, me too. But somehow I'm not enjoying my favorite shows on TV in Germany anymore ... I rather watch them English on DVD now. So I almost stopped watching TV, I just watch GA and CSI:NY at the moment, just to see how much I could understand in English. LOL
Thank you for that lengthy reply with your thoughts on post-Bonnie Adam. Yes, I was nodding all the way through it, because I feel exactly the same way.
Me too.
And I can`t understand why the authors wanted to make the show more like The O.C. ... that's a crap show if you ask me and JoA was a marvel.
Here is my choice finally ...
1) Best Opening A/J scene
I agree with TeeJay here, it's hard to find one. Maybe I'd pick the cream chicken scene too, because that's the only scene I remember right now and for Season 2 I can
only remember the scene from Out Of Sight, but I'm not sure if it was really an opening scene and it's also not a favorite one for me.
2) Best Closing A/J scene
Yes, I love the closing scene of P.O.V. too, but I have to pick Recreation because that's my alltime favorite scene.
Oh, and the end of "No Bad Guy of course. Love
that one, too.
3) Best Kiss
I agree here:
Also without a doubt the one at the end of 2x15 Romancing The Joan. Probably the most intense kiss between the two of them (casting aside the serious make-out scene in Adam's camper in Independence Day). I love that scene. I love that shot. I love that kiss.
4) Best Joan/Other moment
I can agree with TeeJay on the Grace moments, but my favorite Joan/God scene is probably the one from the pilot where Joan wants a proof that he's really God and
he goes: "That's a tree. Let's see you make one." LOL
5) Best Adam/Other moment
I agree completely here:
Best Adam/Grace moment, yes, Deb, you said it: Adam and Grace talk in the biology closet about what Adam should do, now that Helen knows that he tried to sleep with Joan. God, I love that scene!! What ep was that? Secret Service? Best Adam/Helen moment would have to be the one from Jump, where Helen reads Elizabeth's letter to Adam. But there are more great moments, too. For instance when she tells him in Secret Service why she chose Nicky Freezer to do the art presentation instead of him at the end.
6) Best use of a song for an A/J moment
Mmmmh, next to Wreck Of The Day and Across the Universe my favorite song is "Tell me", which was played when Adam and Joan were dancing at the End of Recreation.
The Tic Code is a wonderful movie and the TBAA episode was also great. Being handicapped in a way myself, I know what it's like to be considered as "not normal" just because I don't look like "normal" people. This is why I love that movie so much. I think Chris can indeed be proud of his performance in TTC and I would really like to see him again in a role like this.
