Ooh Mikey, not sour grapes, surely?
Umm...what do you mean? ![]()
More (see above 2 posts):
ET Online has a feature "The Men of Twilight." Michael has his own page and a picture.
Michael is starting to get mentioned a bit more often in Twilight pieces.
This first one is not a big deal but it kind of is because it's not on a fansite or a one-off newspaper or mag piece. It's a syndicated article that went out on the Canwest News Service, sort of like the Associated Press for Vancouver and Western Canada. It's from the Vancouver Sun but will appear in many Canadian media outlets:

Bella's Friends
Upon moving to Forks, Bella is befriended by shy, quiet Angela Weber (Christian Serratos), jealous, petty Jessica Stanley (Anna Kendrick), and popular jock Mike Newton (Michael Welch), who is immediately smitten - much to Jessica and Edward's dismay. Bella's new friends can't understand why she's drawn to Edward, the school freak.
Again, on the face of it it's not a big deal but I've seen thousands of pieces in the press that don't mention him at all or simply include him at the bottom in a cast list.

This one is a bit amusing but enlightening nonetheless.

Under 2 nice-sized pictures from that new photoshoot, it says:
This may mean that I'm a bad gay, but I'm not completely on-board with the upcoming film adaptation of Twilight. I know that a lot of people are really looking forward to it, and I'm sure it will make a boatload of money, but I honestly can't very excited about it. Part of my reticence may have something to do with Robert Pattinson. I don't recall being blown away by his performance in Goblet of Fire, and although he can look very presentable at times, he often looks like something the cat dragged in. Plus, the trailer was so cheesy. It looked like something made for the Sci-Fi channel, and believe me, that's no compliment.
On the other hand, there promises to be quite a bit of male pulcritude on display, including Taylor "Sharkboy" Lautner, Cam Gigandet, Michael Welch and Kellan Lutz. So, there's that.

Hmm...Michael as gay icon? ![]()
Check this out.
The Twilight soundtrack has debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart and the film isn't even out for another week.
Twilight is the first rock-oriented soundtrack to hit #1 since Armageddon in January 1998.
Twilight is the third movie soundtrack to hit #1 so far this year, following Juno and Mamma Mia! This is the first year in which three movie soundtracks have gone all the way since 1998, when Titanic, City Of Angels and Armageddon did it.
Twilight is the first movie soundtrack to debut at #1 since Jack Johnson's Curious George did it in 2006.
It's the first rock-oriented movie soundtrack (as opposed to alternative) to debut at #1 since Private Parts in 1997. Only four other movie soundtracks, Murder Was The Case, Gridlock'd, 8 Mile and Bad Boys, have debuted at #1.
Geez. Calm down girls. It's only a movie.
I think it's Rob they want. One thing I have to give the guy, in all these interviews, he's quite humble. Very self-deprecating, in fact, and can't figure out why girls like him.
Twilight mania
This is scary, folks.
Message from Hot Topic
To all of the supporters of Hot Topic and fans of TWILIGHT:
Although no explanation will correct the situation that occurred in Chicago today at the Orland Square Mall, I wanted to attempt to explain what happened from our point of view.
We do many signings all over the country with large crowds so we have processes and systems in place to ensure a smooth experience for our customers. The mall developer was a partner in the planning; however, as of two days ago, they told us they would not allow any fans to line up prior to 6AM. They required them to be off the premises.
On Monday at 6AM at the San Francisco event, the fans became disorderly and stormed the mall entrance. Mall security, numerous police, fire officials and our team from HT stepped in to calm the crowd and create a safe environment for the fans. The event was revised and went forward with the exception of the planned Q&A.
Monday's event caused all of us to re-group and review the process. Allowing a "mob" to develop was dangerous and frankly, not an option. The mall developer (GGP) consented to allowing an orderly line to form prior to 6AM outside of the remainder of the malls on the tour. When our crew arrived yesterday at midnight, approximately 500 people were already lined up to purchase tickets. By 1AM, there were 700 people in line. It was about 30 degrees and raining. We had to make a call. We knew the first 500 would get wristbands and felt it was the right call to allow those waiting beyond 500 to go home and avoid the cold, wet weather for the remainder of the morning. Given the demand, anyone arriving after midnight would have been too late to obtain a wristband.
We understand your frustration and anger, but from our standpoint, we had no choice but to change the rules after Monday's event. We knew some would feel it unfair as they were told one thing and when arriving on the scene, something else was reality. But given the choice of risking a disorderly crowd, a dangerous situation and canceling of the event, we made a decision that we felt was the right thing to do. I support our team and the mall for making safety and, given the weather, health the priorities.
There are two remaining locations for "Edward" appearances, King of Prussia in Philadelphia and Square One in Saugus, MA. Both malls have consented to allowing an orderly line form early, first come, first serve. Exact line-up locations are posted on the hottopic.com website.
We sincerely apologize and hope that the facts help you to better understand the situation.

CEO, Hot Topic
Seems to be real, then. Larry, have you heard back from Luke on this? Would be cool if we could get the DVD in January.

Nope, nothing.
It's especially odd since he has a mailing list which is VERY up-to-date. He has been sending out the exact dates and times for every theater showing the film as soon as he has had the info.
Maybe he's just focused on the box office right now, which I can understand.
I can only assume he will blast it out as soon as he wants to start promoting it.
I certainly will agree that the value of posting on a given IMDb board is directly proportional to the intelligence and courteousness of the fans who read and post there.
I think we've all had our experiences with banging heads against the wall *cough*alpha dog*cough* and decided it's just not worth it.
Cool pics! I've met Jay a couple of times. The first time was at the World Premiere of I'm Reed Fish at the 2006 Tribeca Film festival. Here he is with the real Reed Fish.

Variety has posted a 15-minute interview with Rob:
http://link.brightcove.com/services/lin … 1906945203
Also has an embed code.
I just checked and the earliest screenings in your area are Thursday night at midnight. It's showing at a lot of theaters near you.
I also double checked the list of appearances and there aren't any near you. Rob, Kristen, Taylor, Edi, and Rachelle are on a tour of Hot Topic stores in malls around the country but none in you area, unfortunately.
The premiere is in Hollywood on Monday, November 17.
There is only one other advance screening that I'm aware of and it's in Portland, Oregon on Tuesday, November 18.
No, not that I'm aware. There are hundreds of events surrounding the release taking place -- appearances at malls, book signings, interviews, trips, parties, etc. Nobody will get to see the film before 12 midnight Thursday night November 20 (i.e., Friday November 21).
Hundred of screenings are already sold out due to advance sales. Some theaters are sold out for every screening the entire first weekend.
Maybe there are advance sales today for some screenings that will take place that weekend which are on sale today and that's what she meant.
Only press screenings are taking place and they are very limited.
The first press screenings have begun and the EPK (electronic press kit) is now floating around.
There are 10 videos, 6 at the first link and 4 at the second link. Also some more artwork.

I just watched it, it's really good. Michael's such a smart guy. I love it how he says he's not a cool person. Come on, Michael, don't be so modest. Of course you're cool. You don't have to be emo or trendy to be cool.

*imagines emo michael*
Chances are that you haven't seen it yet, but wait till you see Let The Right One In. It's being released in various places around the world right now (it's from Sweden). It won the Best Picture award at Tribeca and has gone on to win a slew of awards at other festivals. It is, by far, the most acclaimed festival film of the year.
An American version is being made which will be out in late 2009 or early 2010.
Here are some of the awards. This is not up to date because it only goes through mid-October:
Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia: Golden Melies Award
Edinburgh International Film Festival: Critical Consensus Awards
Tribeca Film Festival: Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature
Woodstock Film Festival: Audience Award - Best Narrative Feature
Austin Fantastic Fest: Best Film Award
Dead Channels San Francisco Festival of Fantastic Film: Audience Award – Best Feature Film
Calgary International Film Festival: Best International Feature
Neuchatel International Film Festival: Best European Fantasy Feature
Natfilm Festival Copenhagen: Metro Critics Award
Göteborg International Film Festival: The Nordic Film Award & Best Cinematography Award

I think we're talking about different things here. Are you talking about the Yahoo site or the other one I posted? I was talking about the Yahoo site. Deb said the HD version of the trailer was available on the Yahoo site. I didn't see any links to HD trailers there, and I looked again with this computer here at work. I swear there are no HD links there for me, and I've used two different browsers now. Might be that they're blocking them if you access the site from outside the US.
Yes, I meant the Yahoo site. I had links on the page which popped up a download dialog.
Deb, another alternative to QuickTime is the free VLC player. You can get it at http://www.videolan.org/vlc/. And it plays pretty much any video format that's out there.
VLC is actually my favorite player. I originally got it because I could not play AVI files with WMP. I highly recommend it.
I also have a solution for the "video stops after 2 seconds" issue, if anyone is still having that problem.
Huge feature in Variety from Anne Thompson, the best movie blogger in the business.
Not sure if it was posted. Portrait Magazine has Robert on the cover, interviews inside with Robert and Kristen, plus wallpapers.
TeenFaze.com did a video interview with Michael.
Check it out -- it's almost 10 minutes long.
That's good to know about the QT Alternative, Larry. I'm not too crazy about the way QT runs.
My pleasure. You can get it at many sources but this is the creator:
http://www.codecguide.com/download_qt.htm
They actually come out with a new one whenever QT does, so it stays in step. It's very light, uses very little memory and system resources.
They even make a smaller version called QT Lite:
http://www.codecguide.com/qt_lite.htm
I don't get it. Am I blind or confused? I can't find any link to the actual QuickTime HD trailer on that page. The embedded video is the same old Flash format (which is not HD). The link at the bottom (that says it's available in HD) guides you to the Apple homepage where you can download QuickTime. Kinda sounds like you can only view it in HD if you have the whole QuickTime iTunes crap installed on your machine. Like, you can only access it from QuickTime directly. What a stupid system. (It's not available on the apple.com/trailers page either, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense if they say you can view it through QuickTime.)
The links are actually download links. When I click a link I get the standard download (do you want to open or save bla bla") dialog.
You're correct that it's not embedded -- you need to download it to your machine and then play it. BUT you don't have to have QuickTime. In fact, I don't use QuickTime. I use QuickTime Alternative which, for those who may not know, is a program from another company that will play QuickTime and (RealPlayer) movies without having QuickTime or (RealPlayer).
I can't wait until it comes out on DVD. I hope Chris has a big role in it.
It's not. I don't post spoilers, of course, so I won't get into specifics. He only has one scene. But it is the pivotal scene in the whole movie.
