This is completely retarded...

Ummm...wow. That's pretty much all i've got.

#2 Re: Square Eyes » Friday Night Lights » 10 Dec 09 :: 00:48

Oh no sad  I have DirecTV this year so I haven't been watching online, but if I come across anything, I'll let you know.

#3 Re: Square Eyes » Friday Night Lights » 09 Dec 09 :: 22:53

That episode destroyed me! I was crying through most of it, and the acting was just amazing. This show nails it every time.

#4 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 09 Dec 09 :: 04:31

In the books I always leaned more towards Edward, but in the movie I actually rooted a little more for Jacob.

Same here. I actually remember really hating Jacob in the books. I think it was because I was an Edward fan and anything that tried to mess with the Edward/Bella relationship just annoyed me. However, after seeing the movie, I found Jacob to be a lot more likeable. He just seemed so much more warm and comfortable (which as we know is literally true) than Edward. I guess it didn't seem as noticeable to me in the books because I was just going by the picture in my head as opposed to seeing actual people. When I was watching the movie, I found myself actually annoyed by Edward popping up on screen. Who knew?!

And no, I don't just feel that way because of Taylor Lautner and his abs of steel. I swear!!

#5 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 02 Dec 09 :: 02:06

Yeah, I don't think they're going to make an R-rated movie either. I'm also sure there won't be any sex scene, which I think is good because it wasn't even really in the book and ... to be honest, I'm not sure if I want to see it on big screen. Not because it is what it is, but as I said, it wasn't really in the book either and I just think it should stay that way.

Exactly. I didn't read the books until this time last year, but I remember my friend telling me about how "hot" the sex scenes were in Breaking Dawn. Really? When I got to those parts I remember thinking, "ummm, did we read the same book?" lol Don't get me wrong though, I actually like that Meyer chose to be less detailed and leave more to the imagination. I know they can make it a good movie without showing any sex scenes, but that's not really the part that concerns me. I'm more curious about how they are going to handle the parts of the book where Bella is pregnant and the baby is tearing her up from the inside out. *shudder*

Anyway, I'm sure they will end up making the movie because, a) it is stupid to start a movie franchise with no intention of finishing it, and b) because they will make a ton of cash, and ultimately that is the number one concern of the studios.

Personally, Eclipse was my favorite of the four books, and I am looking forward to seeing it on the big screen this summer.

#6 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 29 Nov 09 :: 16:06

David Slade directed Eclipse and Breaking Dawn is not officially confirmed yet. Summit has stated it would be happy to bring the book to the big screen, but it's not ... uhm ... how do you say that in English? It's still not sure if they're really going to shoot it.

I don't know how they are going to do that movie, because one of two things is going to happen. They are either going to have to change A LOT of stuff, or they are going to have to make it a rated R film which could prevent a lot of their core audience from being able to see it. I don't know, but it will be interesting to see what happens.

Also, I found this on another site and thought it was a pretty funny recap of the book. Obviously there are spoilers for those who have not read the book, and a warning that there is some offensive language used:

#7 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 26 Nov 09 :: 18:18

I noticed some differences between the directors, but as I said, there is no really "better" or "worse" for me.

I can tell you one thing, I definitely did not miss the blue tinted Forks from Twilight! Even the rainy/cloudy scenes were so much better in New Moon.

#8 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 25 Nov 09 :: 23:56

Possibly the best Twilight parody yet, a take off of You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift.

Haha! That was great!

#9 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 25 Nov 09 :: 20:17

Who all has seen New Moon yet?  What did everyone think?

I liked it. It definitely has its cheesy moments, but they stuck pretty closely to the book, (which I actually started to re-read) and overall it was much better than Twilight. Plus, I am a sucker for an unrequited love story, so there's that too smile

#10 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 24 Nov 09 :: 04:56

Yeah, I don't like abs either, but I don't like really skinny guys either.   Who wants a six-pack when you can have a keg?

The thing is, I'm generally not really into bigger/cut guys like that, but there is just something about him. I think it's more about how caring and down to earth the character is, but the abs definitely don't hurt!! big_smile

#11 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 23 Nov 09 :: 03:25

Oh, just one more thing: Team Edward.

You were able to deny the power of the abs?! :drool:

I know it's about more than the abs, and I was feeling the Jacob/Bella chemistry more in the movie than I did in the book. I actually went back to read New Moon again so I could remember it a little better. Also, I will be seeing it again when I go back to NY and see my old friends this week smile

#12 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 22 Nov 09 :: 04:57

I saw it yesterday at 5:30. My friend got us premiere seating, which means we got mezzanine seats in the theater that are just like couches. You also get to eat restaurant food and drink alcoholic beverages during the movie, so that was cool. All the fangirls were in the lower part of the theater, and our section was the 20's/30's crowd, so there was no screaming, but definitely some "oohs" and "ahhs" as well as some laughing at the tweenagers below.

Overall I liked it better than Twilight. There were still some pretty cheesy scenes, (but that is to be expected because come on, the books were pretty bad in that regard) but it had a more grown up feel than Twilight. When I was reading the books, I was all about Edward, but now that I have seen the movie, I am definitely feeling the Jacob love. I think it has a lot to do with Taylor Lautner's portrayal of Jacob. I also now have an inappropriate crush on a 17 year old werewolf. I feel so dirty... lol :embarrassed:

#13 Re: Off Topic Stuff » I hate people that claim they like the heat » 02 Nov 09 :: 02:30

I'm in South Florida, and I am SO done with this heat! It was already 80 with nearly 100% humidity when I left for work at 6:20 on Friday morning :crying: It makes me instantly cranky and I hate feeling that way. Don't get me wrong, I have A/C in my classroom so it's tolerable, but I am outside quite a bit because all the hallways are outdoors.

I am moving back to New York in June, and it can't get here fast enough! I wasn't born to be a southern girl. I need 4 actual seasons and Northeast temperatures!!

#14 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 06 Oct 09 :: 03:30

Thanks guys smile I've only ever had rescue dogs too, Deb. Before Penny and Lexi we had a Beagle named Patches.

I hear you on the dating thing, TeeJay. It's nice to be with someone, but sometimes getting there is such a pain in the butt. Being single isn't all that bad smile

#15 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 05 Oct 09 :: 03:19

The Beagle mix is Penny, (after one of my favorite football players) and the Pit mix is Lexi, and they are both rescue dogs. We changed Penny's name when we got her, but kept the name Lexi had because she was named after the street they found her on, and we thought it was cute and meaningful. They are 2 of the sweetest dogs ever, but sadly they are in NY with my parents while I am here in Florida sad

#16 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 05 Oct 09 :: 02:12

That's great!  I know what it's like to worry about a lost dog.

Me too. About 3 years ago, my dog was missing for 17 days, and it was the worst 2 1/2 weeks of my life. We have a fenced in backyard, but one of my sisters left the gate open and she got out. She had gotten out before and never really left the area, but someone was setting off fireworks that night and she got scared. We put up flyers, took out ads, and took trips to the ASPCA every other day. One morning she just showed up at the door. Talk about a miracle!! Thankfully she was completely fine...just needed a nice, long bath.

Also, lol at the leg mohawks. I HATE when that happens!!

My babies:

The Beagle mix is the one who was missing.

#17 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 22 Sep 09 :: 01:09

OK, I've spent most of this Sundat cussing at the TV:grovel:... lolThe Pats loss to the Jets was disapointing... but i was a tight game.. only one touch down between the two teams!!

Jets fan here...so needless to say I had a great Sunday! I feel bad for you as a fan, because many of the Pats fans I come across are cool people who really know their stuff. However, as long as Bill Belichick is the head coach up in Foxboro, I can NEVER root for the Pats. That man is...UGH!! I'll just leave it at that.

#18 Re: Chris On Screen » Fanboys » 06 Aug 09 :: 17:28

I finally got a chance to watch Fanboys last night, and I loved it. I'm leaving New York to go back to Florida tomorrow, so I wanted to catch it before I left...nothing like waiting until the last minute, right? Anyway, I don't have a lot of time to give a review or anything, but I did want to say that I thought it was a funny movie with a lot of heart. I have to admit, I have never seen any of the Star Wars movies, (something that surprises and horrifies people every time that I mention it lol) so I didn't really get any of the inside jokes, but I loved it nonetheless. Of course Chris was great, and I really liked how it was mostly about 4 friends who lost their way a little bit, but were able to put aside their drama to be a part of something that they all loved. I can definitely relate to that smile

#19 Re: Square Eyes » Which 2009/2010 movies are you most looking forward to? » 28 Jul 09 :: 19:58

Yes, he is.  But even though I love him, you still couldn't pay me to sit through G.I. Joe.  I've never seen such a goofy trailer!

Yeah, I think if I only see one JG-L movie this year it'll probably be "500 Days of Summer".

I adore Joseph Gordon-Levitt and can't wait for 500 Days of Summer to show up in a theater somewhere close to me. I agree about G.I. Joe though. Ugh! Really?!

#20 Re: Joan of Arcadia » JoA music is awesome » 23 Jul 09 :: 20:28

I prefer watching the TV episodes because the music in them is a lot better. And, yes, this was all due to licensing reasons, in other words: $$$.

Ahhh, yes. Just another instance in which something comes down to money. What else is new...

But we really have to note that the song they replaced Beck with in 1X17 is one of the best songs ever used in the series.  I love it so much I named a VERY important Butterflies chapter after it, Everything... Always

Who sang that one?

I have found some of my favorite songs and artists from TV shows. Some music supervisors just know how to consistently nail it, and I love that.

#21 Re: Joan of Arcadia » JoA music is awesome » 23 Jul 09 :: 18:46

So I was watching some episodes of JoA on SciFi the other day and noticed some of the music was different from the music on the DVDs. I mostly noticed because I am a huge Matt Nathanson fan, and caught the end of Bringeth It On that featured I Saw. I didn't remember hearing it when I watched the first season on DVD, and I went back to check because I definitely would have noticed if I heard the song the first time around. Turns out I wasn't crazy, so that's good smile I didn't check the Double Dutch episode, but I don't remember hearing Bent on the DVD version.

I know that sometimes there are issues with obtaining rights to music for TV shows on DVD, but I can't imagine it would be too difficult or expensive for an artist like Matt who is relatively unknown. Sorry, but I was just curious. Does anyone know of any other instances where songs were switched out for the DVD?

#22 Re: Square Eyes » Which 2009/2010 movies are you most looking forward to? » 02 Jul 09 :: 02:48

My "affectionate" name for the creep is Sheephead LePoof.

Ha! I like it lol

#23 Re: Square Eyes » Which 2009/2010 movies are you most looking forward to? » 30 Jun 09 :: 23:28

The things I'm hearing about that movie turn my stomach even more than the casting.

I'm shocked...I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand Shia LaDouche! wink

If people wanna blow their money on that kind of stuff and encourage Hollywood to churn out more of it, nobody's gonna stop 'em.  It's always been this way and it probably always will be.

That's why I'm more of a fan of indie films. With a few exceptions, the small studios are really the only ones making movies with any kind of substance.

#24 Re: Square Eyes » Which 2009/2010 movies are you most looking forward to? » 30 Jun 09 :: 05:43

There are no chase scenes, exploding cars or deranged robots bent on world domination, but if you're in the mood for a quiet, understated drama about a family, you might like it.

Those are actually the movies I prefer. My taste in movies is so different from those of my friends that I actually end up going by myself sometimes, but my sister and one of my friends really want to see this one. I usually get talked into movies like Transformers. Don't get me wrong, I liked it enough, and we all need some mindless entertainment every once in a while, but that is so not the kind of thing I usually go for. My parents were actually shocked when they heard that I went to see it...

Plus, Jason Patric?  Still HAWT.

Mmmm Hmmm big_smile

#25 Re: Square Eyes » Transformers 2 » 29 Jun 09 :: 06:35

I just saw it today. I liked it, but I didn't love it. The thing that killed me was that it was so long.
