I got about half-way through the DVD, and then Eve the kitty did something to the plug on my laptop, so I will have to finish watching it later. Elle Fanning is remarkable in the movie, playing a little girl with OCD who is playing the lead in a school production of Alice in Wonderland.
Thanks Deb
I never got into "Twilight" mania. Is it worth Netflixing ? What does Michael Welch play in it ?
I am therealshell on Twitter and Facebook.
I dunno if I'd call it a "guilty pleasure," because I enjoy it so much, but I love Degrassi: The Next Generation. Not as much as I love the original series, natch, but I still dig it the most.
Musically, I kinda like Backstreet Boys for some reason
My wife will be thrilled, too. Even moreso when she sees that her dreamboat Matt Taiibi was on last night's show.
Yes, usually when we are trying to have "authentic" fish & chips. I also do at this Mediterranean place I go to.
You threw me off with the living in Phoenix, but you always did sound British to me, Shell. How'd you end up in Arizona?
My Mum & Dad & older brother were all originally from the UK. My younger brother & sister & older sister are fellow Canadians. I ended up in Arizona largely due to Patty (the wife). We "met" in an online chat room, then graduated to talking on the phone, and, after "knowing" each other for three months met in Las Vegas in 1998.
We were married eleven years ago this coming August 19th
Do Yanks ever put brown vinegar on fries, or is that just a Brit/Canadian thing ?
Yep, found the boy in Diner myself. Also one of my all time faves. Saw it in the theater and I've got it on DVD and it's where I picked up my french fries and brown gravy habit.
Back in high school, fries and gravy (of the brown variety) were pretty much a staple in the caf. I asked for fries and gravy once in a Phoenix burger joint & they gave me fries smothered with "country" gravy, which was not as icky as it sounds.
Yeah, I loved that show. Great cast. I was very disappointed that it didn't last. A co-worker and I share a mutual affection for Tim Daly and we were beginning to wonder if he was a curse to any new TV show he was in. We also loved Eyes, which was even more quickly canceled than The Nine. But now he's finally on a successful show, Private Practice, and all is right with the world.
I think that Direct TV/101 is going to show EYES, at some point. I like Tim Daly, too. Have since he was the "serious" guy in "Diner," one of my all time fave movies. He was also good on The Sopranos, but ended up getting shot in the head !
I've been following this show on the Direct TV 101 channel, and I have to say that its a really nifty piece of work, and I dunno how I managed to miss out on it when it first aired on ABC back in '06 (I was probably too hung up on LOST, as I still am). A propos of LOST, The Nine does have a similar format, I guess you'd say.
It also has a JoA connection -- Tom Garrigus did the same job(s) on The Nine that he did on JoA. He last worked on the creepy sounding (to me) Swingtown. I might have to check that out now. He does good work.
I am looking forward to Seth, James Franco, Linda Cardellini, et al to star in Freaks and Geeks: The Motion Picture. That I would pay to see :dancing:
I just read that over on IMDB. Lucky bugger :clueless:
(1) It was supposed to be in Maryland, but I don't think they ever specified the exact location. It was definitely supposed to be a fictional city, even though there is an Arcadia in Maryland.
(2) I actually don't know. I assume someone from the prop department did.
And don't worry, your questions weren't silly.

Arcadia sorta reminded me of the same place where My So-Called Life took place, but that was supposed to be Buffalo, as I recall.
I thought that Prince of Persia was a live action version of a Disney cartoon for some reason.
(1) Where was Arcadia supposed to be ?
(2) Who created Adam & Helen's works of art ?
Woohoo!!! I will be buying this the day it comes out.

Nick Meyer is one of my favorite people on the planet. Not only is he responsible for some of the best of the classic Trek movies, he wrote and directed my absolute favorite movie, Time After Time --- which turned me on to Mary Steenburgen, which lead me to JoA, which is why this website exists. Heh.
I got to meet Nick and hear him lecture at the 2003 Creative Screenwriting EXPO in LA. I didn't know he was going to be there until the day before the conference when they sent out an email annoucing his addition to the schedule. It was so great to get to talk to him about how much that movie means to me. The special edition DVD had just been released and it has this great commentary track with Nick and Malcolm McDowell, and they talk a lot about Mary of course since she and Malcolm met on that movie and married the following year.
This is very exciting. Just another reason I can't wait till August!
I'm fairly certain that I saw a test screening of Time After Time about thirty ( ! ) years ago at the great old (and now gone) University theatre in Toronto. I say that I "think" it was a test screening because it was a few months before the movie actually had its so-called "World Premiere" at the Toronto Film Festival (then called the "Festival of Festivals"). I can't quite recall, but I am also fairly certain that I filled out some kind of questionnaire when the movie was over. I also love the movie a lot, and should have the DVD, but I don't (yet). I'll be buying Meyer's book for sure, and look forward to August, too, as I was born in that sultry month.
I am an avowed pack-rat and have junk all over the house.
Linda Cardellini ---
I want her to have my love child
Patty & I saw this one yesterday. We both liked it a lot. At least one character in the movie very closely resembles, in demeanor, a friend of mine.
The music, featuring a load of songs by Alexi Murdoch, is aces !
I'll go to see a new version of The Twilight Zone
Just Add Water which has Jonah Hill in it, it's really dry, kinda uneventful I wish it had more of Hill, every line he said was effing side splitting funny.
Where were women like you before I was married ? Being a tubby and witty guy never got me anywhere back in the day :witsend:
I have La Vie en Rose ready to watch. Probably tomorrow.
Hmmm, I have never seen an episode of Entourage, and have no desire to Netflix The Wackness. I'm a bummer today :silly:
