Coachella is definitely on my list of things I need to do in the next few years. Cool that Chris & Sean went this year. I'm sure it was fantastic.

Hey TeeJay! Missed you too!

Yeah, somewhere along the line I predicted that Graduation would be less than great, but that's okay with me. I'm sure Chris is great in it, as usual. And the same goes for Remember the Daze. I'll probably enjoy watching it simply because there are lots of familiar faces in the cast.

It's good to be back. Going to try my best to stick around this time, hahaha.

#33 Re: Introduce Yourself » Hello everyone! » 31 May 08 :: 06:32

Ah, thanks Deb! I'm reading through the posts that I've missed now, but this helps a bunch.

I have yet to see Graduation -- the past few months I've been awful at keeping up with movies and television. I wonder if I could find it at a Blockbuster. Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! When Chris said he didn't care for the way it turned out a few months back, I expected it to be disappointing. Not that it sucking would keep me away, because...it's a Chris movie, but good to hear that it's enjoyable.

I just read TeeJay's review on Remember the Daze and watched the clips that were uploaded. So glad I got to see Chris (and Sean!) in a role so completely different from anything he's done before. I'll definitely be renting this one. I'm curious to see Michael's part in it as well.

Big project?! Good news about Fanboys!?! WOOHOO!

Hopefully I stop neglecting my fandoms now that life has settled a bit. Thanks a bunch for the quick updates big_smile

*resurfaces*

Hi everyone! I've been gone WAY too long...

I'm back in Arizona now after my year in Boston. The move, work, school, and my attempt at a social life has kept me away.

Someone give me a quick update as to what's been going on! I've missed chatting on here bunches.

Nah don't worry about it, not a lot of people did watch that show. But Michael is definitely one to look out for. smile

#37 Re: Square Eyes » Juno » 01 Mar 08 :: 21:24

I'm wicked excited for SNL tonight. Ellen Page AND Wilco! Even if the skits suck, I'll be happy.

Who is this Michael Cera? Do I have to know him?

Yes, you do. Hahaha. big_smile

I first saw Michael in "Arrested Development" back when it was actually airing on FOX. The show was amazingly funny, received tons of praise from critics, but was always struggling to stay on the air. FOX had no idea how to promote it, I guess, the idiots. It did last two and half seasons, though, and the show gained a bunch of fans after its cancellation. They're in talks for an Arrested Development movie right now.

Anyways, Michael was hilarious on that show. After it was cancelled, he signed onto Superbad, which released this summer. And more recently, he played Paulie Bleeker in Juno. He's got several projects coming up, one of which is the film version of the ridiculously funny novel Youth in Revolt by C.D. Payne. Look out for him wink

I have a feeling Chris will be on a similar list not long from now. He works so much and is so talented, there's no way he'll go unnoticed in the "Best Under 30" category for much longer.

The list they compiled is good, though. I was excited to see that they mentioned Michael Pitt and Jesse Eisenberg. And Deb, I can't believe you bumped Shia off of your version of the list but kept Zac Efron, lmao.

I heard about it being aired on CBS. Personally, I couldn't stand watching them edit through a ton of the storyline to make it more appropriate for that channel. I wonder how heavily it's been censored.

#41 Re: Square Eyes » Cloverfield » 24 Feb 08 :: 22:48

I finally dragged my brother to see this the other day. Amazing! Though I saw the trailer back in July and anticipated the movie for months, I never took the time to look it up online, so I missed all of the incredible viral marketing. The back story for Cloverfield is as interesting as the movie itself - I urge everyone who's seen it to go to http://geeksofdoom.com/2008/01/22/clove … -millions/ and read all about Tagruato and Slusho, the companies that were seemingly involved with the attack. It explains where exactly the monster came from, what caused it to start attacking NYC, and it touches on what happened to Marlena after she was bitten (my guess is that getting bitten by one of those parasites allows some strange bacteria to get into your system, causing your body to swell, overheat, and eventually explode).

On our way out, my friend and brother were all in hysterics about seeing the shadowed object fall into the water at the end of the movie, which was something I missed. We also didn't know to stay until the end of the credits to hear "Help us" (which, when reversed, sounds like "It's still alive"). And having looked at all of the clues that were presented to the fans before the movie's actual release, I think I've gotta go see it again.

And from the looks of it, I think there will be a sequel. J.J. Abrams has said that if they do another one, it will be told from another person's perspective on the same night. Very, very cool.

Brenna! What else is your favorite scene, besides the ending of "Vanity, Thy Name is Human"?

I believe most all of my favorite scenes have already been mentioned in this thread, but I'm partial to all of the interaction between Adam & Joan in "Jump" and the final scenes in "The Gift" and "No Bad Guy".

#45 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Misc. Stuff » 18 Feb 08 :: 07:28

I too loved Driving Lessons. Very cute, very underrated. Great performances all around. They should have copies at a Blockbuster, Deb, since that was how I first saw the movie.

#46 Re: Joan of Arcadia » All time favorite scene » 18 Feb 08 :: 07:24

I am so hopelessly in love with Adam Rove.

This thread is amazing.

#48 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 12 Feb 08 :: 03:17

Woo! Go Michael! It's too bad Mike has a only a small part in the stories, but he'll do the role justice for sure.

#49 Re: Square Eyes » Into The Wild » 10 Feb 08 :: 20:43

I'm not an Emile fan at all, but I also loved Into the Wild. It was the first time he really impressed me as an actor. And the film was really well done.

I still want to read the book by Jon Krakauer. I think it's floating around my house somewhere.

Sean, your little boy is wicked adorable. He must have so much fun with you.
