Hey guys!
A New Star Wars edition of Robot Chicken is scheduled for Nov 16th. Can't wait!
That is pretty darn, freakin' cool!! :dancing:
Thanks y'all! It was a real low key day for me. Just hung out with Jacen and watched a few DVDs. Then hung out with some friends tonight. We were planning on going to a movie, then we got to talking about comic books and Star Wars and 4 hours later, it was time for everyone to go home.
Hey guys!
Just got back from watching this tonight and I'm not really gonna do a review right this second but I will say that it was a very very very different kind of film. Like someone mentioned before, extremely vibrant colors throughout the entire film. Lots of action. Some good star power and seemed to be made with much respect to the old television series. Jacen enjoyed it too. He loved the cars and the race scenes.
I think it'll be one of those films that people are absolutely gonna hate, or will love & embrace. Just go in with a light-hearted attitude and have fun with it
Oh, and they showed the Clone Wars trailer too!
From the way he says 'Final Version", it makes me think that definite changes are being made since both of the previous versions were complete.(At least to the point where they could be screen tested) The fact that Kyle is back working on it makes me very happy and I trust that he'll do his best to make it as faithful to the original version as he can. <crosses fingers, says a prayer, knocks on wood, etc!!>
Some good news perhaps???
Friend of TheForce.net & director of Fanboys Kyle Newman is highlighted in a New York Times article online. Kyle was tapped by Microsoft to write and direct The Cube, a short film being used in a promotional contest for Microsoft. Here's a quick bite....
"The contest, which is to begin on Thursday, is called the Ultimate Video Relay and has its own Web site (ultimatevideorelay.com), a spinoff of the Windows Vista Ultimate Web site (ultimatepc.com). The relay reference comes from the invitation to computer users to complete a story titled "The Cube" in several stages. The tale, a humorous cross between "The Matrix" and "The Office" (or "Office Space") begins with a six-minute clip that can be watched on the relay Web site. The clip is directed by Kyle Newman, the director of "Fanboys," a coming movie about "Star Wars" aficionados."
Read the full report and check the video right here!
**NOTE: There is also a Fanboys update on page two where Kyle is quoted as being back in the editing room for the FINAL cut of Fanboys.
"Mr. Newman, in a telephone interview, had encouraging news for the "Fanboys" fans. "I have been brought back into the editing room to work on a final version," he said, adding: "All the key people are back. That's all good."
Getting a little tired of seeing Stan Lee cameos, oh look he's in Spider-Man, X-Men or Fantastic 4. Kind of ruins the scene he's in because all I see is Stan Lee.
I personally like the Stan Lee cameos and I think they're appropriate since he created/co-created all those characters. His scenes are literally only seconds long and it's a small way of paying tribute to his works. But to each their own.
Hey guys. I wanted to chime in on Iron Man real quick.
I'm a big comic book nerd, but only a casual fan of the Iron Man comics. I've always thought he was an intriguing character, had some cool costumes, and he's one of the legendary Marvel superheroes.(Been around since 1963)--but I never really got "Hooked" on his books-He's a solid character in the Marvel universe, but never quite caught on like Spiderman and the X-Men did. That being said, I took Jacen to see Iron Man saturday night, and Iron Man is officially The Man! It's easy for a viewer who knows nothing about Tony Stark/Iron Man, to jump right in and understand what is going on. As a casual fan of the comic, I knew quite a bit about Stark and his company as well as knowing who the side-characters were and I was blown away by their performances. Paltrow, (who in my opinion would seem out of element in a superhero movie) nailed Pepper Potts! Jeff Bridges is almost unrecognizable playing Obadiah Stane. I could hear people in the audience next to me asking, "Who is that guy'? Tony's buddy, Jim Rhodes played by Terrance Howard was equally magnificant. and of course, how can we forget Downey who was perfectly cast to play Tony Stark? Can you believe that Cruise was actually in the running for Stark a few years ago? Screw that. Robert Downey Jr was awesome as the genius, womanizing billionaire. That's exactly how he is in the comics and RDJ brought Stark to life. (Look for a Tony Stark cameo in The Incredible Hulk) There is a great nod to Rhodes and how he later becomes the War Machine (in the comics) as he looks at the silver armor Iron Man donned earlier in the movie. Stan Lee has a great cameo too as Stark refers to him as "Hef"..and the scene after the credits made me geek out and yell the name of the character who made their on-screen debut.
I can't immediately say if this is the best comic book/movie adaption ever, and honestly, that doesn't really matter to me--all I can say is that they did a spectacular job on this movie and I'll be eagarly awaiting a sequel. Lots of action, great humor & one-liners, and superb acting. Go see it!
My favorite one-liner: Hot Woman at benefit party, "Hey Tony, remember me?"
Tony Stark, matter-of-factly "Sure Don't!" LOL.
(You'll get it once you see the film)
Omega Man is a bit dated to today's standards, but I really enjoyed him in that on top of the other's Deb mentioned!
He was a great actor with many memorable roles. He'll be missed.
Wow, this is cool! I remember watching these movies after school back in the day. The originals were fun but very dated now. I usually moan and groan when I hear about a movie being remade...in this case, I'm excited to see it!
In any case, we suspect Harvey was shocked to arrive ready for diplomacy only to find Chinese culture minister Sun Jiazheng decked out in a STOP DARTH WEINSTEIN T-shirt given to him by an earlier, unidentified American visitor, who apparently punked him into believing it said WELCOME WEINSTEIN COMPANY. Those Fanboys loyalists — always thinking two steps ahead.
Is that for real? That is AWESOME!!!
Well, it looks like Brill/Weinstein somehow put 2 and 2 together and figured out that some of us in Albuquerque were involved in the protests and cut our parts out of the film:
Yea! What's up with that? Especially after all that trash he talked about with the Star Wars trivia contest.
I blame Brill for everything now.
Let's get 'em!
It was late at night and I got a kick out of it.
It's on my Netflix queue!
This is kinda cool. Just enter your first name on the first blank, last name on the second, skip the email part and then click "visualizar'
Very cool, Thanks Illinois!
One of my gripes about the movie was wanting more, so I'm even more curious to check it out now.
Cool. But I'm confused. Didn't you say Harry Knowles played himself in the reshoots? According to Ernie, it was yet another actor, but not Harry.

Interesting, Ethan Suplee filled in for the re-shoots. Ironically, he's had several roles in Kevin Smith movies and is now on My name is Earl.
Awesome!
So many movies, so little time!! I need to take a vacation day just to catch up on some stuff!
I take it back, it's supposedly a continuation of the story
Hehe, I'll have to check it out.
have any of you seen the Tin Man? A friend recomended it. It's some kind of a Sci-Fi Channel remake of the Wizard of Oz.
I watched Enchanted and Atonement the other day. Enchanted is hilarious, but very off beat. When you watch Atonement, be sure to have your remote handy
