#101 Re: Fan Fiction » The Magic Door - by TeeJay » 22 Aug 07 :: 20:07

Wow... The ever continuing fanfic. I enjoyed it! Seems like Adam would make that decision, too (very Adam-ish). I have nothing to add at the moment- I'll just be a spectator.

#102 Re: Introduce Yourself » Our little questionnaire ::: Come on in and answer it » 22 Aug 07 :: 19:52

Um, okay... I was told to come here and take the quiz, so here I go. I haven't seen much of Chris besides Joan of Arcadia, so my answers will be limited. I'll try coming back again after I see some more movies.

What's the first thing your ever saw Chris in?
I didn't know it was him at the time, and I didn't even pay attention to actors, but when I was much younger I saw him in this Disney Channel Original movie called Up, Up, and Away! He played the hyper-active side-kick character, and he was really young. When I found out he was in that movie, it broke me.

What's your favorite thing he's done so far?
Well, I love his work in Joan of Arcadia overall (not much more I can answer, considering I've only seen two other Chris movies).

What's your favorite scene in that movie/show?
Oh, gosh, what to say... I loved the scene in "Jump" where Helen reads Adam's mother's note, and the scene between Adam and Joan in the hotel in "The Gift". I don't want to say this, but I like the infamous courtroom scene to break-up in "Trial and Error" (because of his awesome acting, not the outcome).

Who's your favorite Chris character and why?
Gee, I'm a real Joan of Arcadia girl here. I completely love Adam. I can't even bring myself not to like post-Bonnie Adam. He's so sweet and sensitive and completely adorable. I compare him to a puppy.

Do you remember the first time you Googled Chris?  What site did you land on?
First time? Uhhhh... Early this summer. I found out who the actors on Joan of Arcadia were and I googled him because I loved Adam so much. I landed on... wow, you know what, I think I landed here.

What were you looking for when you found our website or how else did you stumble across it?
Heh, see previous answer. Well, actually, I think my friend and I stumbled across this site while searching for Joan of Arcadia stuff a few days before I found it on my own. I don't recall anymore...

What role in what movie --- any movie --- past, present or potential would you love to see Chris play?
... Wow. This is a tough question. I can honestly say my mind is blank when it comes to past movies. I'll probably go back later and say, "You know what? That's what he'd be good in, but I think of any right now. Potential movies to see him in? Well, I like myself a nice drama/romance type, myself. Something to show off his sensitive side again, and of course to see his adorable puppy-eyes. Or maybe a role that he hasn't much played, like a villain-type character. I'd still find a way to love him, though.

Seen any Chris movies in a theatre?
*sigh* No. My first time will probably be seeing Fanboys next January. Unless he does anything else first, that is.

Own any Chris movies?
Ack, big no again. I don't even own the Joan of Arcadia DVDs! I'll have to fix that.

Have anything special recorded off TV?
... I just need to stop answer questions like this. sad

What do you like most about Chris?
His hair and his eyes. Oh, man, do I love his eyes. On his acting ability, the way he can make me laugh when doing something comical, and still turn around and move me to tears when doing something serious. Basically, I love the way he can do opposite genres (I'll probably expand on this more after seeing more movies).

If you could ask Chris one question, what would you ask?
Can I give you a hug? ... No, seriously, at the moment that's my question. tongue One person keeps saying I should ask him to marry me, but I would never seriously ask that. :embarrassed:

Do you have any of Chris's lines that you can quote off the top of your head?
"I talk to angels."
"Don't you have an appointment in the Biology Closet?"
"I was too busy looking at you."
"Uncallenged." (Okay, that one's cheating)

Have you met Chris in person? If so, tell us about it.
... No. *gloom* I hope to someday, though.

If you could have him autograph one item or photo, what would you pick and why?
Ummmm... I don't really know. I want to say a hoodie because of Adam's usual attire, but then I couldn't wash it. X_X Ahhh... I'd probably have him autograph a promo pic from Joan of Arcadia, since it's the thing I know him best from, and I don't really have any other ideas.

What would you want to see Chris doing next out of these?
a) a very dark and suspenseful thriller
b) a sitcom
c) a quirky and/or romantic comedy
d) a horror movie
e) a drama TV show
f) an action movie
g) a dramatic movie
h) a medical or cop show
i) a theater play
j) something else entirely (if so, what?)

I'd pick... c, e, g, or i. C because I'm a romantic fool, and seeing Chris in one would make me giggle (and probably get me thrown of the theater). E and G because I love drama, though I'd prefer E so I could get more attached to the character. And I because I just freaking want to see him in person. big_smile

Okay, there you go. Not much variety to it, but it's something, right?

#103 Re: Introduce Yourself » Hello » 22 Aug 07 :: 03:07

Hi, colorthestars! I've seen you around a few places (fanfiction and youtube, maybe?), and it's great to see another fan. I'm pretty new here too. tongue Welcome nonetheless!

#104 Re: Fan Fiction » JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories » 22 Aug 07 :: 03:04

=P Oh, that's fine. I was just being vague. I don't really look at the number of words for drabbles, and I didn't mean anything by the "less than a hundred" statement. Either way, you still are able to create very reasonable situations and entertaining stories with not very many words.

Alright, so this probably doesn't need an entire new thread for this, but I suppose I'll just do it.

Deb left me a list of Chris movies to watch in my introduction, but I was wondering if anyone could give me good, firm recommendations on which ones I should watch. I can see now that he's been in a lot more movies than I originally thought (I was so shocked to see all the topics in this section), so any suggestions would be nice.

I'm not a huge fan of, ehhh, graphic violence, so I'll probably stear clear of Freddy vs. Jason (Tina called it crap on a stick, anyway), but are there any others I should decide not to watch because of that?

Heck, this can just be turned into a general recommendation thread if you guys want- a place for new Chris fans - like myself - to come and get a quick look at the movies that other fans say are a must watch.

#106 Re: Fan Fiction » JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories » 22 Aug 07 :: 01:38

I've been reading your drabbles since last night practically non-stop (not sure how many more I have to go...), and I love them. Some of them seem to end abruptly, but that's the thing about them- somehow, it just works. I know I could never write drabbles because I'm too drawn into long chapters. Being able to move someone with only a few hundred (or less than a hundred) words is truly amazing. A lot of your stories I've found myself in love with.

#107 Re: Fan Fiction » Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic) » 22 Aug 07 :: 01:32

... Argh, I knew I spelled Ms. Lischak's name wrong. I'll go back and correct it soon. I'll also check FFN for the comment and reply to you there, Deb.

EDIT: Ah, never mind- seems I have to respond to your comment here- no problem with that, though. I'm really glad you're enjoying it so far, especially since I hear you're a bit picky with portrayals of Adam (admittingly, I'm the same way in many other fandoms). I won't comment much more since you have to read the second chapter, but I say again: take your time. I'll have the third part up next Monday.

I really should be spending my entire night writing it, considering I have school tomorrow and will probably only have the weekend to finish the story, but ... well, Just Friends is coming on television later tonight and I seriously can't resist, especially considering I spent almost all my money on books today. big_smile Still, I can say with confidence that this is one deadline that I'm going to keep. ... For once.

#108 Re: Fan Fiction » Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic) » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:46

And I'm anxiously awaiting your critique/response! Take as much time as you need- there's no rush.

#109 Re: Fan Fiction » JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:44

Yeah, and if they're short I always find myself wanting more (unless the ending is satisfying).

#110 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x21 Common Thread Table Read » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:40

Aw, I thought he looked cute. tongue Still, it was odd to see him without a hoodie on. I was like, "what? Where's Adam's hoodie?!" and I whined. It really does look like something Luke would wear, though.

#111 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Evil » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:38

Ryan's an interesting person, to say the least. I wish so bad that we could've found out exactly what was in store with him, and what Joan's task was. Was she supposed to 'defeat' him and protect the innocent, or was he a victim - a fallen angel that needed to be redeemed? We'll never know.

#112 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Potential & Kinetic: Friedman, Judith, and the Show » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:34

Yeah- we never know what could've happened, so I guess we have to be content with 'what ifs' and such. If Friedman had gotten to read the play for Judith, maybe something would've sparked.

Heh, I never read Hamlet so the symbolism was lost on me until my brother explained it. I have a strong feeling I'm going to read it this year, though, so I guess I have a bit of a leg up on the subject. The doomed romance- why do we find it so intriguing?

#113 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x21 Common Thread Table Read » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:29

Oh, man, he was? I'm gonna have to see that table read again now. xD

#114 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Potential & Kinetic: Friedman, Judith, and the Show » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:26

Yeah, it makes a lot of sense. It's the same for me. Trying to picture Friedman with Judith was difficult, to say the least. Had Judith lived, they could've gone on to becoming really close friends rather than boyfriend and girlfriend.

#115 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x21 Common Thread Table Read » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:10

Oh, man, yes. It would've been interesting (and totally heart-breaking) to see the actors reading through the episode they never wanted. I wanted to hug Chris while watching the table read, but I couldn't figure out why. This had been before I read the interview, so now I really understand why.

#116 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Potential & Kinetic: Friedman, Judith, and the Show » 21 Aug 07 :: 18:06

I think Judith wasn't really gaga over Friedman like he was over her, but she hadn't totally turned the possibility down. You could see a little something in her eyes when she talked to him in "Friday Night". Maybe it was just guilt for him memorizing the entire play, but I'm not sure.

On the quick subject of Friedman and Stevie, I really wish they could've entertained that a bit more. I mean, I REALLY wish they had, especially as to why he was so hesitant in going out with her. I don't want to put it up to bad writing right away, but more like things they forgot to put. I honestly think that Friedman was afraid of getting into a relationship with a girl who liked him, because Judith's death really hit him hard. He was afraid of losing another girl, and sadly that's what happened. At least that's what I got out of it. I wish Friedman could have more of a human face without us having to hypothesize.

#117 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Evil » 21 Aug 07 :: 17:57

Well, if you recall way back in "Just Say No", God told Joan what happened to Helen was evil, yet we meet the man who did the deed in season 2, and he has some good in him. Maybe it doesn't mean that people are evil, but more like the actions they take against one another can be considered good or evil. Remember also that God said in "The Uncertainty Principal" that no one is completely dark (or something to that extent), so it may very well be impossible for someone to be fully evil, but also for someone to be fully good.

Just my little take on things.:)

#118 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x21 Common Thread Table Read » 21 Aug 07 :: 17:53

The table read was overall awesome. I loved seeing the chemistry the actors had, even during their first time through (and the Luke and Friedman scenes killed me every time).

Seeing that scene in full, living color would've been amazing. I always liked the interaction Joan and Grace have, as the two least likely friends in the world. And Grace's "doinking Bonnie" line made me fall over.

#119 Re: Fan Fiction » JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories » 21 Aug 07 :: 17:46

70 pages... Wow. I don't think I've gotten that high yet. I've written a 32-page chapter before, but that's about as high as they get. At first long chapters are intimidating, but once you really get into a story, then it's impossible to make you stop.

#120 Re: Fan Fiction » Reversing the Stitches (JoA fic) » 21 Aug 07 :: 17:40

Heh, yeah, I looked and saw that you put up a link just after I put this up. That was a totally amazing feeling. Yeah, I was needing a place to discuss Joan of Arcadia. I have my best friend and my brother to talk to, but my brother's off at college now, so now I only have one person (not that she's not a totally awesome person to talk to and all). It's great to see such a wide variety of theories and opinions.

I love the Luke and Grace relationship, but Adam and Joan's always caught my eye. I don't know why, either. I guess that means it's perfect for me here. =P

And I promptly responded to said review. Keep on sending them!

#121 Re: Introduce Yourself » Erm, hi everyone. » 21 Aug 07 :: 17:29

I think I'll end up going with the graphic. There was a time when I was younger that I would shy away from reading it, and I would skip over it if it was in a story, but now I've learned that skipping over something that big sort of detracts from the story (plus, I'm a bit of a sucker for A/J, so ...).

I'm totally honored that you want to save my story to your hard-drive. Like, so honored that I can't even move. My PM response was sort of exactly how I reacted to seeing your review as well. It's like, I stared at it for a moment, and then fully registered everything. Oh, man, I went insane. I seriously love getting reviews as well, especially I haven't written for the fandom much.

#122 Re: Fan Fiction » JoA: Adam & Adam/Joan stories » 21 Aug 07 :: 07:11

Agh, that sucks. Good that you'll be in drive-thru awhile, though. >.> I, uh, tend to write long chapters.

It was fun talking to you too. I gotta sleep now too, actually- I need to start waking up early for *groans* school.

#123 Re: Introduce Yourself » Erm, hi everyone. » 21 Aug 07 :: 07:05

Heh, well, I can't really print all that many out because the computer I use doesn't have a printer (we'll get another one day...). Back when I used the one with a printer, I'd have my brother print out what I was reading when he had to get on the computer, and if I really liked it, I'd continue reading it. Several stories, however, I loved and printed out chapter after chapter... There are literally hundreds of pages all stacked by my bed- I have no idea what I'm going to do with some of them, because they're hard to carry around, but the stories are awesome.

I have several fandoms that I just love writing for, and that I can write the characters nearly perfectly for. Joan of Arcadia's one where I love writing it, but since this is only my second fic (and my first in writing many of the characters), I have a really hard time telling if I'm doing an okay job with them. I second-guess my work way too much, but I really do have a lot of fun writing it. I don't do collaborations much, except with my best friend, but all of those are totally insane humor fics that are written at ungodly hours of the morning.

#124 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x19 Trial & Error » 21 Aug 07 :: 06:56

Yeah, that just really got me. Something just seemed so awkward and lost with the two of them that it gave me shivers, especially when Joan started crying outside the shed. She really did still love him, but she couldn't forgive him just like that. And yeah, Chris and Amber really were amazing. If we ever got a chance to get Joan of Arcadia back (not likely, but still), I wouldn't want it if we didn't have the exact same cast.

#125 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x15 Romancing The Joan » 21 Aug 07 :: 06:50

I really don't know. I mean, I would think they'd have had Joan be the model teenager, with the "save sex 'til marriage" philosophy (which I am totally fine with). I also wish we'd have seen something besides Independence Day where Joan and Adam made-out. I mean, they definately found some tongue there (if only it stayed at that level hmm). They probably were afraid of people back-lashing though. Honestly, though, what would you expect in a show like this at the time it was on? There was bound to be some sort of negative blow-back. My brother and I often say that Joan of Arcadia was a show before it's time.
