Miami!

Last night's episode had some cool "Ed" shout-outs.  One of the executive producers, Larry Teng, was a producer on "Ed" and is married to Lesley Boone, who played Manny's campaign manager on last night's episode.  She's been on there before.  I think she played a woman who was suspected of murdering her husband but it turned out to be Kelsey Grammer whodunnit.  She was one of the stars of "Ed", which is where she met her husband.  The name of the first murder victim, Warren Cheswick, is the name of the character Justin Long played on the series.  I hope I'm not the only serious Ed-head who loves "Medium", because I sure got a kick out of it.

I never in a million years would've believed I could hate Jobeth Williams so much.  And up until the last 2 minutes I was pretty p.o.'d at Pete!  Good episode, though.

#203 Re: Fan Fiction » THAT DRESS (RATED R!) - New BUTTERFLIES Satellite Smut Bon-Bon! » 28 Dec 10 :: 20:14

I think I've seen it before, but I don't remember it very well.  Joan Fontaine was the most well-known actor in it.  The male lead was (I think) Dana Andrews.  Don't remember who played the Michael Douglas part, but Fritz Lang directed.  He made some good movies.

#204 Re: Square Eyes » Misc Stuff » 28 Dec 10 :: 19:24

I think there were once Martians in Rome, Wisconsin. big_smile  (NOT counting Ray Walston, though I could.)

#205 Re: Fan Fiction » THAT DRESS (RATED R!) - New BUTTERFLIES Satellite Smut Bon-Bon! » 28 Dec 10 :: 19:01

The dress looks like it could be either a casual summer dress or a fancy beach cover-up.  But she does rock it, as you say!

#206 Re: Fan Fiction » THAT DRESS (RATED R!) - New BUTTERFLIES Satellite Smut Bon-Bon! » 28 Dec 10 :: 19:00

Yeah, I think the movie was based on an older one from like the 40s.  And it's a good story.  And I'm glad she had a nice wardrobe.  But the production values were pretty lousy IMO.  Which I didn't find to be the case with "Wall Street II", which I saw because the showtimes for "Eclipse" were listed incorrectly, so I watched WS2 while I waited.    I thought it was actually not a bad movie, given that sequels are nearly always inferior to the original.

#207 Re: Fan Fiction » Alexandri's Stuff » 27 Dec 10 :: 22:31

Found the body painting story.  Much, MUCH more risque that Alexandri's usual stuff.  I love that but, if you don't, you might wanna skip this one:

But if it, in ANY way, lead to that story :drool:, I guess I need to revise my opinion of it.  Loved "That Dress"!

#209 Re: Fan Fiction » THAT DRESS (RATED R!) - New BUTTERFLIES Satellite Smut Bon-Bon! » 27 Dec 10 :: 22:14

I thought the whole movie was badly lit and generally looked worse than an el-cheapo movie of the week.  How TF did Michael Douglas end up in something so badly done?

#210 Re: Fan Fiction » Alexandri's Stuff » 27 Dec 10 :: 22:12

Alexandri's got a lot of great stuff posted and FFN.  I loved "Starting Over", "We've Only Just Begun", there was a honeymoon story (really short) that I can't remember the title of.  And she had her own A/J body painting story that was almost as good as the ones TeeJay and Deb wrote.  Check 'em out if you're always on the lookout for good A/J fic.

#211 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Birthday Thread » 27 Dec 10 :: 21:53

Hope you're having a fun and wonderful birthday, Deb.  Wherever you are. big_smile

And TeeJay, that wallpaper is gorgeous!!!!  Niiiiice.

#212 Re: Square Eyes » Stephen J. Cannell has died » 17 Dec 10 :: 02:17

Loathe the new format!  And it IS weird that they'd put an acting role down there among "self", as though it were a talk show appearance or something.  Or well, I can't remember what I did before IMDb, but sometimes it really annoys me. :fedup:

#213 Re: Square Eyes » Julie's hubby died » 17 Dec 10 :: 01:37

How sad but, at the same time, what a wonderful life and career!  I loved "Victor/Victoria", too, but I still can't think of "SOB" without giggling.  And he was equally adept at drama, too.  And a great writer!  He'll be missed.

#214 Re: Square Eyes » Post your recent DVD purchases » 15 Dec 10 :: 22:00

You're probably smart to wait, TeeJay.  I'll bet that as soon as all 5 movies are out, they'll have deals on a special boxed set that'll have more features and be a better price than the individual sets.

#215 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 14 Dec 10 :: 19:22

Not always the daughter, it turns out.  Freddie Prinze, Jr. is a former Miss Golden Globe. big_smile  Also, Clark Gable's son and Lorenzo Lamas' son.  THAT kid looks like he's gonna be trouble.  But I'm sure Lorenzo kept his parents up a few nights, so he's got it coming to him. :rofl:

#216 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 14 Dec 10 :: 18:44

It's kind of an honorary thing, I think.  It's generally the daughter of an actor, usually one who plans to be an actor herself, and she's onstage during the awards ceremony.  Mostly she hands the awards to the presenters and shepherds the winners offstage after their acceptance speeches.

#217 Re: The Bullhorn » Updates » 11 Dec 10 :: 22:35

Yeah, thanks so much TeeJay.  Great pictures, and so many of them.  What a treat!

#218 Re: Chris On Screen » Outlaw! Another new TV guest role... » 11 Dec 10 :: 22:34

Yeah, I remember when I saw "Sliding Doors" when Gwyneth Paltrow got treated after being mugged.  You'd have a hard time getting treated without a purse here.  You've gotta love the National Health.

#219 Re: All About Chris » 6 Degrees of Chris » 11 Dec 10 :: 20:11

That's the guy on "Supernatural" who isn't the guy from "The Gilmore Girls", right?  I'll assume, until corrected...

Jenson Ackles is on "Supernatural" with that guy who played Dean on "The Gilmore Girls"
who was on "The Gilmore Girls" with Alexis Bledel
who was in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants I & II" with Amber Tamblyn
who was in "Joan of Arcadia" with...

How about Peter Lorre?

#220 Re: Square Eyes » Medium » 30 Nov 10 :: 19:09

That guy just can't keep his filthy mitts off the 8:00 p.m. Friday timeslot, no matter how much damages he causes.  So sad!  But they've really had a a nice run.  I guess I'll just consider everything we got after they got Zuckered up until they were Les'ed to be a gift.  What a great show it was, one of my all-time favorites.

#221 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 12 Nov 10 :: 21:39

Totally agree!  Having exclusives extras that were only available as "exclusives" for certain retailers was ridiculous, too.  And now the "Eclipse" DVD will have the Stewart/Pattinson commentary, which is great.  It will also include one with Stephenie Meyer and the producer.  But this time there won't be a director commentary. roll  How can you not have a director's commentory?

To paraphrase Descartes:  I bitch therefore I am.  tongue

#222 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 12 Nov 10 :: 21:29

Yeah, I've got in on my YouTube playlist.  But it's so stupid not to include it on the soundtrack.  Especially since Weitz said on the movie commentary that it would be!

#223 Re: Square Eyes » Grey's Anatomy » 12 Nov 10 :: 21:25

Yeah, that's true.  He was only being a dink to Alexhole.  Never mind.  Carry on.  :rofl:

#224 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 12 Nov 10 :: 21:19

Does anyone know why "All I Believe In" by The Magic Numbers was omitted from the "New Moon" soundtrack?  I thought it was one of the best songs in the movie, and was thinking about buying the soundtrack mainly for that one song.  I'm bummed!

#225 Re: Square Eyes » Grey's Anatomy » 12 Nov 10 :: 20:29

That was his first episode.  He's the new pediatric attending, since Arizona (Lord, what a name!) left last week.  I don't know how long he'll last, though.  His character seems like kind of a dink.
