Oh, and by the way? Bad-ish news. The US Blu-ray is released by Image Entertainment, and they never make their Blu-rays codefree. Since I want this one as Blu-ray, I'm gonna have to wait for the UK release. And who knows when that's gonna happen... (It's not listed on amazon.co.uk yet. Plus, it might even happen that they don't release it on Blu-ray outside the US, but let's cross fingers.) So material to gush over like screen- and vidcaps is gonna take a while to go online.

EDIT: It's being released on Blu-ray in Sweden on Feb 15. Not sure I can figure out a way to get it from there if I can't get it elsewhere, but at least there's a chance...

No takers? I don't even know if it's possible to connect him, but let me list a few things he's been in:

Nikita (the reboot)
The pilot of Fringe
Flashpoint (Canadian show)
The Listener (also Canadian show)
ReGenesis (another Canadian show)
Saw VI
Happy Town (come on, Sam Neill should be able to connect to Chris somehow!)
Lucky Number Slevin

Anyone wanna attempt a try?

It'd be wrong to make anyone watch 2012, since it's probably the worst movie I've seen in the past decade. I even contemplated leaving the theater, and I would have if I hadn't sat in the middle of the row with plenty of people sitting on either side. tongue

You mean when she opens her eyes? Well, I don't exactly remember what happened in Avatar, but I can't think of any other way to show the completion of a transformation like that and it doesn't lead me automatically to think "They stole that from another movie."

Yes, that's the scene I mean. And since I've seen Avatar so many times, I couldn't help but notice the similarity. I didn't mean to say it wasn't well done in Breaking Dawn, or that it didn't fit. It was just... exactly the same. And conveniently also exactly the same in that it was the very, very last shot of the movie.

BTW, you mentioned book adaptions that involve Robert Pattinson. I suggest you watch Water For Elephants, he's brilliant in that one. I've heard that from other people who hate him with a passion.

Yeah, I'm sure it's great and lovely and all, but Robert P. is to me what Shia L. is to Deb. I just can't help it. He may be a good actor, but I just have zero interest in watching him, unless I really, really wanna see the movie. I have no desire whatsoever to watch Water For Elephants, especially if I have to pay money to do so. And even if someone gave me a copy of the DVD for free, I would probably only ever watch it if I was super bored and didn't have anything else to do whatsoever for the next two hours. (Which is very likely to never happen.) I know that may be wrong and irrational, but people don't always behave rationally, right?

I guess it's kinda like when you meet someone, and you don't even know them, but you already have a loathing for them the minute you set eyes on them. It happens. And mostly you just have to accept it and move on.

The very last shot of the last scene in both (excluding the Volturi add-on) is exactly the same, only with different people, of course.

No, I was talking about the very, very, very last scene, not the birth giving. There was no birth giving in Avatar.

#411 Re: Square Eyes » Twilight (contains spoilers for all books and the movies) » 28 Nov 11 :: 09:24

I watched the matinee yesterday. There were maybe 10 people in the cinema. The girl two seats over cried like crazy. (And, like everyone but me and two others, she rushed out as soon as the credits started, thus missing the last scene with the Volturi.) I personally thought, as far as book adaptations that have Robert Pattinson in them go, this one was pretty good. Still, perhaps wrongly so, I got more excited about the ten seconds of Matt Bomer in the In Time trailer they happened to play in front of the movie than the prospect of watching Breaking Dawn.

So, yes, it's always lovely to see Mike Welch on the big screen, even though his role was super short. He did look snazzy in that suit, however. The last scene (don't worry, I'm not gonna spoil) was very much cribbed from Avatar. Wonder if they did that on purpose. My biggest gripe is probably the make-up. The vampires always look so fakely white, like they just applied very bad, pale makeup (and to the face only). And PFac was wearing Da Wig From Hell. It looked very fake, and very horrible. (And by the way, I thought Alice's and Jasper's hair was fine. Even Pattinson's hair looked all right.) I mean, this is the effin' 21st century. They should be able to do better than that!

I'm looking forward to part 2 next year. Should be a good one.

That may be part of the reason, but I'd like to think the motivation is more that they thought they couldn't possibly squeeze everything into one movie and still do the book justice. Or is that too idealistic of me?

I'm planning on watching it on Sunday. Hope there's not gonna be too many annoying fangirls. I must say that my enthusiasm for the Twilight movies has dwindled a bit, but of course I'm still gonna make sure I catch all of them in the theater.

What is your next project?
I have written a script called "God's Work" that I hope to make in Colorado sometime soon.

I'm currently trying to put together a soundtrack for ReGenesis, and try as I might (and believe me, I did), there are just a number of songs that I couldn't find anywhere. So I thought I'd ask around, maybe one of you knows where to find them. Any of these sound familiar to anyone?

Laurel MacDonald - High Mountain Hymn
Laurel MacDonald - Green Chapel
The Headwalkers - Open Session
Eccodek - High Falutin'
Eccodek - Master Craftsman
The Getaway - Taken
The Premiums - Daddy Dearest
Wayne Cass - Underwater We Rest, pt. 2
Los Cubaztecas - Tres Besitos
The Gardens Faithful - Rest Of June
Electro 4 - Afie's Song
Jorane - Naked
Rolla - Lost On The Way
Damn! - Inescrutable
The 6ixty8ights - Perfect Time
Silent Spring - Give It All Away
Karen LeBlanc - Fix Me Jesus

Okay, so I'm totally hooked on this Canadian TV show, ReGenesis. Anyone even heard of it? It ran from 2004 to 2008, got four seasons. Man, this show is every molecular biologist's dream. And the cast is great and it pushes all my McPunisher buttons. Plus, there is no censorship whatsoever, so there's lots of f-words and a hefty portion of nipples and bare male butts. And, uhm, Ellen Page ftw! (Only for the first eight episodes, though. Boo!) I've been plowing through all four seasons in under a week. Just six more episodes to go, which I will undoubtedly be watching tomorrow. (Yay for timely bank holidays!) big_smile

I will surely hate it tomorrow that there's not more of the show, but I will also be glad that it's over because then my messed up brain may find a way to something resembling normalcy. Is there anything like TV show addiction? Cause I think I must be suffering from it. Seriously, I've barely been functional the past few days. Geez... I need to get a life.

These are great. I've sent the person a message on Flickr and asked whether we can upload them to our gallery. Hopefully we'll get permission. *fingers crossed*  Btw, official site now says: In Theaters Nov 4th. So they moved it out again, it seems. At least it's not opening alongside In Time anymore.

#422 Re: Chris On Screen » The Double » 26 Oct 11 :: 21:41

Someone just e-mailed us via the site, asking whether we're going to put up pictures of Chris from The Double. Has anyone looked for stills from the movie? Is Chris in any of them? (I mean, duh, of course we're gonna put pics up. Once we have any.) I must admit I haven't really looked specifically for stills. (Does that make me a bad website admin?)

EDIT: Okay, a quick look around seems to indicate there's only been three stills officially released. They have Richard Gere, Topher Grace and Stephen Moyer in them. No Chris. Booyah. And with the movie being dumped on DVD with a super-limited theatrical release, I think that's all we're gonna get. The movie doesn't even have an official website, does it? Our best bet is the DVD or Blu-ray from which we'll hopefully get some decent caps. Cross your fingers that the US Blu-ray will be region-free, otherwise I'll have to wait for the European release since I can't play US Blu-rays and I don't think I wanna buy the US DVD.

Oh, I knew he was in one episode. Just didn't know which one, and I didn't want to look it up. Figured I'd recognize him anyway (and of course I did, though his name was in the credits before he first appeared). The episode is called "Badlaa", from season 8. It was pretty creepy too. Made Steffi dream about slaughering elephants, apparently. I just dreamed about Eddie Cahill dancing with me. (No, seriously!) tongue
