What about all the same number.

All 7's.

(3) Three naughty nurses...
(7) indulge in beer bashes, toga parties, and an assortment of ill-advised high jinks...
(29) in a Vietnamese prison camp.

Sounds like any given episode of China Beach

That or the storyline of a porno.

I had to look at the pic of the Enterprise again.

At first I thought that the thing with the red dot near the deflector dish was part of the ship. That is until I noticed another red dot below the ship towards the back. So I blew it up and noticed that they are likely shuttle crafts.

I think the best way I would describe it is the following. The Enterprise crossed with the look of the new version of Battlestar Galactica. A metal, more beffier look like the new Battlestar Galactica. But keeping the general look of the original Enterprise intact.

Thought it might be a good idea to start a general discussion about Star Trek (films and/or TV).

First I thought I'd post what I think of each of the films.

Star Trek: The Motion Picture: The Director's Edition:
- I prefer the Director's Edition over the theatrical version or even the Extended Edition. The enhanced FX really helps the film. The new FX look almost as if they were filmed back in 1979. None of them stick out like a sore thumb like the new FX in the Star Wars Special Editions. Probably the most beautiful shots of the Enterprise in any of the films. Likely the most "science fiction" of the trek films before it all was about action. The one thing though that was bad was the skin tight costumes. I really didn't need to see people with very little left to the imagination.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan:
- Among the best of the Trek films. Some of the best space battle sequences in the series. Great villain and still a heart-tugging ending even after all of these years.

Star Trek III: The Search for Spock:
- The most "Vulcan" of the Trek films. Some very funny moments. The stealing of the Enterprise is very good. Really too bad that the space battle was over before it even began. Plus the destruction of the Enterprise is sort of sad since she was a major character.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home:
- Among the best of the Trek films. Very funny parts with an overall good message.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier:
- Gee what happened here. In my book the worst of the Trek films. It's like a westernized version of Star Trek. The wost special effects done in a Trek film, for that matter maybe the worst FX in a science fiction film that I've seen. Plus the story is just kind of dumb.

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country:
- Again among the best of the Trek films. A great send-off to the original cast. Nice tie-ins with the Next Generation storyline that was going on during that time. The second best space battle in the Original cast of Trek films.

Star Trek: Generations:
- An ok Trek film. Really nice to see the Enterprise B & D on the big screen. Too bad that they destroyed the D though. Some good space battles. The Nexus idea was weird though. Plus if Kirk & Picard could travel back in time to any point then why back to the planet? Why not capture Soran when he first met Picard on the Enterprise D?

Star Trek: First Contact:
- The best of the Next Generation Trek films. In fact up there with the best of the Trek films. Great villain. Good space battles, but I wish they were much longer.

Star Trek: Insurrection:
- The second worst of the Trek films. Boring story and a lackluster villain. Riker controlling the ship with a joy-stick? Come on. Good fx though.

Star Trek: Nemesis:
- This one gets picked on quite a bit. I actually like it though. Some very good space battle and finally we get to see the Romulans on screen. I also liked the idea of B-4 and the ending was sad with the sacrifice of Data to save his crew members.

#533 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 11 Nov 08 :: 14:25

Kind of remember that now.

I don't think the make-up in that scene is really that bad. But I think how it "looks" onscreen is what makes it look worse than it actually is.

I'm going by memory here, but perhaps Nick shouldn't have filmed it so close-up. The closeness is what draws your attention to the makeup. Perhaps he should have filmed it from a distance, perhaps with Matt Barry in the foreground and Sharon further back as if the camera was on a tripod.

#534 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 11 Nov 08 :: 13:48

I was going through the films credits doing an update for the dvd profiler program and found that Tom Woodruff Jr. & Alec Gillis did the make-up effects. I am assuming that this has something to do with the Sharon Stone fat suit and/or the murder scene.

I wonder if those that always complain about the make-up during that scene even knew that those 2 likely did it.

Usually these 2 do very good make-up effects, so I wonder if it has anything to do with the films budget, lighting or the film process?

FYI: They do the Alien effects in the newer films.

CC has filed for Bankruptcy

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27641634/

NEW YORK - Circuit City Stores, the nation's second-biggest electronics retailer, filed for bankruptcy protection Monday but will stay open for business as the holidays approach.

It filed under Chapter 11 of the bankruptcy code, which will allow it to hold off creditors and continue operations while it develops a financial reorganization plan.

The Richmond, Va.-based retailer has been struggling as nervous consumers spend less and credit has become tighter. The announcement came a week after it said it would close 20 percent of its stores and lay off thousands of workers.

The company said it decided to file because it was facing pressure from vendors who threatened to withhold products during the busy holiday shopping season.

Circuit City said it had secured $1.1 billion in loans to provide working capital while it is in bankruptcy.

It had $3.4 billion in assets and $2.32 billion in liabilities, as of Aug. 31.

Circuit City Stores Inc. announced a week ago it planned to close 155 of its more than 700 U.S. stores by Dec. 31. The stores are spread throughout 28 states, including multiple locations in areas like Phoenix and Atlanta. It is laying off about 17 percent of its domestic work force, which could affect up to 7,300 people.

Get Smart (2008)

A very good pop-corn flick. I really like the homages to the TV series. Some very funny segments and action sequences. The traitor is easy to discover early on, but it doesn't really ruin anything.

Bill Murray is in it, but just a brief sequence that really didn't add anything to the film. Probably could have been left out.

#538 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Obama won! » 08 Nov 08 :: 10:32

I think Bush got re-elected because it was so soon after 9/11. People were still very fearful of another attack. Remember all of those terror alert warnings and the color coded bar.

Also it was happening during the Iraq war. I guess voters thought he could handle it better than Kerry could have. I also don't think that Swift-boat attack on Kerry helped him too much with veterans or then current military.

EW Justin Timberlake in 'The Open Road' and More First Looks. Sneak a peek at Mr. SexyBack's '09 movie role.

Justin Timberlake in 'The Open Road' and More First Looks
''It's about how dysfunctional all of our families are,'' Justin Timberlake says of the 2009 film The Open Road. He stars as a ballplayer driving cross-country to find his estranged dad (Jeff Bridges). Speaking of dysfunction, he's traveling with his ex (Kate Mara), and they ''still have a thing for each other.'' So that explains the bickering.

What attracted him to this Road trip? ''There are things you say and go, 'Oh, my God, I sound just like my mother!' I did this film because it's about that: the little things that make you who you are.''

What's weird is I can't get any video to play anymore online. It'll load up and plays just a few seconds and just stops. Especially the type youtube uses.

However, I recently downloaded the latest version of realplayer and that allows me to download just about any video of that type. After I download the video I can play it without any problem.

Gee other than scratches from cats that my parents owned when I was a kid, not too much.

The only time I had to go to the ER was when I got bit by a dog on my mouth and had to get stitches for my lip.

Never had a broken bone or even a fracture.

I was kind of sickly when I was a kid though. I use to get bad tonsillitis and I was really close to having to go in and get my tonsils removed. Luckily that didn't happen and I still have them today.

#543 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Obama won! » 07 Nov 08 :: 09:13

The one thing I hated about McCain was him saying "My friends" every few minutes in each speech. It was so pandering and if anyone thought he was your friend then I think you're very wrong. He doesn't even know you at all. All he was doing was trying to manipulate and pander to the crowd.

And Pallin. Gee I couldn't stand her voice and how she talked. Then the entire 150 thousand on clothes and stuff to just make her look good. That's more money than some people make in 4 or 5 years and she spent it on clothes. I mean you're trying to pander to Joe six-pack and Joe the plumber and average folk and you're spending that kind of money on clothes. She tried and portray herself as being just like the average Joe (or Joe's wife), but the average person doesn't spend that kind of money on clothes probably in their entire lifetime.

It also didn't help that their own base true colors showed up during the campaign. You had that old lady saying that she couldn't trust Obama because he was an Arab or people yelling out terrible things during their appearances such as "Terrorist" or worse.

I am just so happy that Obama got elected. I couldn't stand McCain saying "My friends" for 4 more years or Pallin voice either.

When I first looked at it she was going clockwise.

I looked for a long time and nothing changed. But then I looked at just the bottom shadow and I could make her go the other direction. But if quickly went back to clockwise.

There is also a gender thing regarding one thing a woman can do that a man can't.

I learned the following in school.

If you place a chair against the wall and stand away from the wall and place the top of your head against the wall above the chair and try and lift up the chair with both hands, women can do it and men can't.

I haven't tried it since school so I don't know if it's still true, but when I was a kid the boys couldn't do it, but the girls could.

1. Without anyone watching you (they will think you are GOOFY......) and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I've tried it and it does change the direction of the foot.

Same thing happen to you?

#549 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Circuit City closing 150+ stores - link to store list inside. » 06 Nov 08 :: 09:20

According to another site everything is now 10 to 30 percent off in the stores closing. DVDs are 20% off at this time.

I'll probably wait another week or two before I check it out. Likely the percentage off will be better as time goes by.
