#126 Re: All About Chris » Photo thread » 08 Sep 13 :: 09:01

Check it out, Chris was at a Kilimanjaro screening at SXSW. Maybe it was mentioned before and I missed it. There's a number of photos where he's interviewed on the red carpet. Wish I had the time to dig around and see if we could find some of those posted online, but with my upcoming trip to Canada next weekend, our next Save Bomb Girls campaign being launched on Friday, and visitors coming today, I'm afraid I won't have time for that. sad

Also a shame we didn't know about him appearing at a horror con in Indiana a few days ago. Why do we always hear about the good stuff after it's over? *sigh*

Anne, I'll try to send you one.

Thanks, Lindsey. I'm sure Vancouver is great too, but so far away from Europe!

While we're talking about vacation, I'm going to be in Canada from Sep 15 to 29. I presume that I will be able to sporadically go online if there's wireless at the hotels, I probably won't be around every day. Let's hope nothing bad goes down in the website world during that time. smile

Hope you two enjoy your well earned vacations!

#129 Re: Chris On Screen » The Day The Dead Weren't Dead » 30 Aug 13 :: 21:57

There's two versions out there. A 2:50 minute one (which I believe was the one originally uploaded to YouTube but is not in its original spot anymore), and a 3:50 minute one without Chris. I have the 2:50 one on my hard drive, but it's super small, and not great quality. It's still up on YouTube with French subtitles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQjahnuKFok (The version I have is about the same quality.)

The 3:50 without Chris is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmXCzoxveHQ

I'm not aware of there being other versions of it out there.

#131 Re: Chris On Screen » Life During Wartime (STRONG LANGUAGE - ADULT CONTENT) » 27 Aug 13 :: 08:54

I honestly don't even remember. I think he had one or two more scenes, but they were short without much dialogue for him. My verdict would be that if you're not interested in the film itself, you don't need to watch it just for Chris.

Found this awesome short that Aaron did. It was honestly amazing!! It's called Dig and I wasn't sure if it had been posted on here or not so I linked to the YouTube video.

What instantly ruins it for me is when they cast people as Germans whose German has a terrible (non-German) accent. Not sure where this actor is from, but certainly not Germany. It's like casting an actor with a heavy Scottish brogue who is supposed to be Australian. Aaron also said something at the beginning in (I think) German that they didn't subtitle, and that I couldn't make out.

But, yes, heavy material indeed.

#134 Re: Square Eyes » Amber Tamblyn » 10 Aug 13 :: 12:46

I think sometimes people just like to have some light entertainment to unwind. Why is stuff like Big Brother, Survivor or America's Got Talent being renewed every year over intelligent quality television like Bomb Girls or FlashForward? Well, because people love watching that shit, and because it's easy money for the networks. A sitcom with just one set, almost no external and/or action shoots, and few guest stars is cheap to produce, right?

Also, taste is always in the eye of the beholder. My colleague who really likes the show is neither dumb nor unintelligent. I can't say why exactly she likes it to want to spend money on the DVD boxes, but there must be something about it that appeals to people.

And the fact that it might be uninspiring and boring to some, doesn't automatically mean it's crap, right? I can't imagine sitting through a televised game of baseball and not find it boring or uninspiring. Does that automatically mean it's crap? Hell no. But, well, maybe I'm comparing apples and oranges here. I've never even seen Two and a Half Men, so I probably don't even have a right to enter any discussion about it.

#135 Re: Square Eyes » Amber Tamblyn » 08 Aug 13 :: 08:40

Never seen the show, never heard about it (other than knowing it exists). The title suggests it's some kind of family sitcom, which is so totally not my cup of tea. I think one of my colleagues is a big fan and has all the DVD boxes. Can't really say I have much of an interest checking it out. Amber or not, I probably won't.

Have you considered it's entirely possible that Amber didn't just take the role for the money, but that she actually likes the show? smile

#136 Re: Square Eyes » TV Discussion Thread » 05 Aug 13 :: 19:47

I'm sure they'll put it on DVD before long. I think it's become quite the success. A lot of my Twitter folks have been raving about it.

#137 Re: Square Eyes » TV Discussion Thread » 05 Aug 13 :: 08:37

This has nothing to do with cable channels, but can I just pitch "Orange Is The New Black"? It's a Netflix show, based on a real story (from a book) of a woman who spent 15 months in a women's prison for a one-time drug money smuggling offense ten years ago that went bad. I was hooked after the first episode. (The only actors I knew were Kate Mulgrew and the spiritual guy from A Gifted Man, but the whole cast is really great.)

We didn't do anything for the birthday this year.  We've kind last touch with him lately, he's been so busy.  I've been thinking it's about time to reach out to him again now that he has a ton of stuff to talk about.  We kind of thought he wasn't communicating much for a while there because maybe it bummed him out to not be working.  I think things are about to pick back up for him and for us.

Truth be told, we got a little frustrated because he didn't thank us or even acknowledge our last birthday present despite us politely asking whether he'd received it. Or was it our last two? I might be that he felt too self-conscious about it, but it's not like we're random people he's never met, you know? I don't think we're planning anything for this year, unless someone has a super cool idea and volunteers to get all of that organized.

Sweet, I've uploaded the images to the gallery. Hopefully we'll see a trailer before long. And, yes, looks like the original URL doesn't work anymore. I'll go ahead and update it with the new one Deb found.

#140 Re: Fanart » Avatars » 22 Jul 13 :: 11:45

You can either e-mail them to me (teejay@chris-marquette.com), or use a photo platform to put them online (Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack, ...) and then post the link here. You can't upload photos directly from your hard drive to the forum. It has to be posted elsewhere on the web, and then you can link to it.

I'm from Germany, so I don't have advice either. Sorry. Though from my point of view, I'd say you'd be crazy to more from Canada to the States. tongue Think about healthcare, politics, gun law, all of the things that are wrong with the US (no offense).

As far as I know, it's the only video of him that they put online. I think we asked them when it was published if they had more but didn't get a response.

Should have mentioned this sooner, but I'm actually in Yorkshire right now, online only via smartphone. It's absolutely beautiful, and we're staying until Sunday. Here's a little taste of the view from down the road of our vacation home.

Whoopies, the trailer's been online since December 2012. We really need to pay better attention to stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LX4bjpmaf9c A fan on Twitter sent me the link (thanks!). Here's also a shorter trailer, but in better quality: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_25gj12rQY Screencaps here: http://www.chris-marquette.com/gallery/ … ?album=263

The movie premiered at NYCIFF in June: http://www.nyciff.com/world-premiere-of … -around-2/ Chris might have been at the premiere. Anyone wanna go on a web hunt for possible photos from the premiere?

#149 Re: Square Eyes » TV Discussion Thread » 02 Jul 13 :: 08:39

Unrelated to Tommy Flanagan, but what I find really sad is that NBC would cancel Awake last year, and this year make a show that's basically the same, just with other actors and a few changes in setting (i.e. Do No Harm). I mean, I get it that concepts get recycled if they're successful, but it's baffling that obviously this one wasn't, and yet they do it again. And I must say, I liked Awake a lot better. I'm getting so fed up with imagination-less TV reboots. Which is why gems such as Bomb Girls or Orphan Black stand out.

But, hey, at least Unforgettable was uncancelled and is getting another season this year.

#150 Re: The Bullhorn » General site announcements and changes » 25 Jun 13 :: 19:39

Not sure anyone will even notice, but I've made one modification to our website today (the actual site, not the message board). It used to be squished to the left and statically stay there, even if you maximized the window. This worked reasonably well when I first designed the site some seven years ago, when people were still working with screens that had resolutions of 1280 and smaller.

However, these days with our widescreen monitors and larger resolutions, I think the site would work better if it dynamically centered. And I've changed that now. The main window should always be in the center, no matter what you do.

I've tested it with the latest versions of Firefox, IE, Chrome, Opera and Safari and also IE 8. Seems to work fine for me.

If you think it looks weird on your screens, please let me know. (You may have to click "Reload" a few times to see a change, the old site may still be stored in your cache.)

That said, I think I would program the site differently if I had to redo it today. And it could probably use a design overhaul, but I just don't have the time to redo the whole thing now. I hope it still serves our purpose the way it is.
