Not so great being compared to Willie Aames.  He was a kid/teen actor/pin-up boy in the late 70's to early 80's.  He never was a very good actor and he was an even worse "musician".  But the girlies loved him.  Probably all that curly hair.  I don't get the comparison at all.  And Willie became a druggie/drop-out/loser when his teen career dried up.  Now, he pops up on celeb-reality crap shows like, Celebrity Fit Club throwing tantrums in a bath-towel.  Please, lets' forget this comparison ever happened.

I'll take the Clooney one though.

That's the AICN fanboys for you.  They hate everybody and everything that they don't personally deem cool.  They'll change their tune after Fanboys the movie, I bet.  They'll become slavishly devoted to him.  LOL!

#18478 Re: Chris On Screen » Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED » 13 Sep 06 :: 15:53

There was another synopsis that said he wanted to be a major league ballplayer but wasn't good enough.  I could live with that.  It didn't say he was one of the worst players in history.  That is gonna be embarrassing, folks.  Damn.  Well, it looks like this is going to be more of a romantic comedy than a baseball movie anyway.  Guess that's OK.  We get to see him fall in love and try to win the girl.  That should be fun.  Do we know who's playing the girl?

#18479 Re: Chris On Screen » Calvin Marshall - CHRIS IS NO LONGER INVOLVED » 13 Sep 06 :: 02:11

OK, so I went fishing for news again.  None to be found so far.  Did we have this particluar synopsis posted over on Melissa's board before?  Because the part I've bolded below just really struck me suddenly:

Junior college student Calvin Marshall is determined that he's going to have a huge career in major league baseball. What everyone else realizes and Calvin does not is that Calvin is one of the worst ballplayers in history. When Calvin falls hard for an attractive volleyball star with a big future, he gets some hard lessons in love and life, but must face his own strengths and limitations before he can move into the future and determine the profession he's really suited for.

Wow.  I've gotta watch my beautiful man play my favorite sport horribly?  Maybe I'm not looking forward to this movie so much after all.  yikes

BTW, I pulled that from a Steve Zahn message board that I just found: http://www.xyzahn.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=176

They don't have any news either.

That is astounding!  I'd be crying right now if that was me.  I could get my crushed sunglasses fixed!  Why do things like that never happen to me?  sad

TeeJay, I really like what you did with the ER synopsis, the links to the vidcaps and screencaps and back to the ER websites.  That's more info than anybody could ever possibly find anywhere else about that ep!  You rule!

In going over the JOA clips you have uploaded, I noticed that the Adam/Grace pimply pubescent horndog clip is still listed as coming from Secret Service.  This clip is from Shadows & Light.  Can you fix that?

Deb

PS: And this is a just a teeny tiny thing.  Just for consistency sake, can you put a zero in 2X8 on that same page so it matches the other listings?

#18484 Re: The Bullhorn » Updates » 11 Sep 06 :: 23:44

Awesome!  I'll check these out when I get home tonight.  big_smile

PS: Oops! The list of clips for Just Friends says "Just Friend".

You don't need to read all that.  Addiction = bad.  There, see?  Simple.

Guess I'd better watch that clip with my good speakers, then, huh?  No commment on the Jackass stuff.  LOL!

#18488 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Adam & God Watch » 08 Sep 06 :: 06:39

Out Of Sight

Adam sees Joan talking to GothGod and approaches her after He walks away.  "Who were you talking to?" he asks, pointing at God as He disappears down the hall.

"God" Joan answers, "He's big into Marilyn Manson."  Of course, she plays it off as a joke.

Adam laughs with her, mainly to difuse the tension between them, I think.  It's a lovely moment.  A little frustrating maybe, but they're both really sweet and cute here for a moment.

Deb

PS: TeeJay, this recap came in at 11 hand-written pages.  Probably 4-5 typed.  Will send it ASAP.

#18489 Re: Chris On Screen » The Education Of Charlie Banks » 08 Sep 06 :: 01:09

Seventies clothes are not that bad when they're authentic.  It's when people make modern mock-ups of them that they really suck.  Also, bell bottoms are kind of back in style with the kiddies these days.  And anything's better than that stupid ass-exposing hip-hop look so many dudes (Adam included) seem to favor these days.  But yeah, I much prefer Linus's rather tight, straight-legged pants.  tongue

And don't worry, you can still count on the baseball uni in Calvin to provide some nice eye-candy.

You know what, Anne, you are so gonna love what TeeJay will e able to do with the caps for AG now.  You can see subtleties of facial expression you couldn't see in the VHS version.  Especially in the scene between David and Janet in her room.  I thought wow, I didn't see those puppy dog eyes the first time around when he's standing in the doorway, looking like he's afraid to go in.

#18491 Re: Chris On Screen » American Gun » 06 Sep 06 :: 18:13

No, Marcia didn't mention Chris, sadly.  She did in that radio interview I heard her do.  She said he played her son, but she didn't go on and on about him or anything.  If someone asked her a specific question, though, I bet she would.

#18492 Re: Chris On Screen » American Gun » 06 Sep 06 :: 15:32

OK, so I'll spoil it.  No Chris in the tiny special making of doc.  Only the same 4 people who have been promoting the movie all along - Aric Avelino, Linda Cardellini, Marcia Gay Harden and & Forest Whitaker.  I don't think it was a question of money.  It's a nice little doc.  It was probably a question of availability.  When was Chris free to participate in the marketing of the movie?  Pretty much never.  Oh well.  It's wonderful to see a nice, clean print of the film. Though I'd still like to know why the David/Janet story was shot in those washed-out colors while the other storylines were not.

Another possible reason Chris didn't participate in the marketing is that the movie sat on the shelf for so long that he looks completely different now.  He doesn't look like a 16-year-old boy anymore.  He looks like a 22-year-old man.  Maybe Avelino though that it would be too obvious that the movie is a few years old if Chris was interviewed for it.  I've seen that happen before.

AG special feature = very brief and not so special.  On the plus side, the movie's picture quality is immaculate so the screen caps will be fantastic.

Deb

PS: The sound quality is excellent too.  No muddy dialog now.

#18494 Re: Chris On Screen » American Gun » 06 Sep 06 :: 02:20

Girls, I spoke too soon.  There is one special feature.  I didn't notice because it's printed very small on the back.  But I'm not allowed to say what the special feature is per TeeJay.  Gonna watch it now.  I will let you know whether it's good or not, but I'll keep it secret.

#18495 Re: Chris On Screen » American Gun » 06 Sep 06 :: 02:05

The DVD arrived today.  There are exactly zero extras.  But there is a pic of Chris on the back.  The box art is actually kind of cheap and crappy-looking, but OK.  Who cares?  Doesn't diminish the brilliant perfromance from Chris.

Yeah, I've been trying to check FFN all day.  It just finally let me in.  They're doing maintenance or something and I kept getting heavy traffic messages and blank screens.  But it's all good now.  Glad you had a decent night and a good massage.  We just got back from a little shopping.  Dave's gonna come over soon to eat with us so we might not get back to our marathin for a while, maybe not at all because the day got away from us.  sad

More when there's more to report...

We're al off today.  It's a national holiday called Labor Day.  No one will read it but I won't see it till tomorrow, so if there's anything you need for me to know today, can you forward it to home?

We have a couple of things to do, but I'm hoping we get back to our marathon soon.  smile

We watched The Gift tonight because Steph was tolerating the weepy stuff pretty well so far.  And when I told her about it, she decided it sounded good.  She laughed at all the funny stuff, said she liked Grace a lot.  Knew she would.  But she called Adam a girl.  After he yelled at Joan for trying to give him money, she said, "Don't be such a girl!"  I told her it was a sore spot with him, hating to feel pittied.  But, of course, he is kind of a girl and we see a lot of that in this ep.  But that's part of why we love him, because he's gentle and sweet and mellow.

Tomorrow, we're going to do Queen Of The Zombies and I am seriously considering showing her T&E because she asked to see the one that made me fall in love with Chris.  I'm also going to show her the Adam & Grace scene.  And I want to show her some James.  And at least a couple of pics of Linus, just so she can see the whole evolution we've witnessed.

Deb

PS: TeeJay, she sends her compliments on the Dorquette Drool Towel.  She was very impressed that you did it by hand with fabric paint.  She says it looks like it was printed someplace professionally.
