Wouldn't it be cool if it was something of that high quality?

#177 Re: Chris On Screen » The Odd Way Home » 24 Sep 13 :: 03:22

Also, it's entered in the Narrative Feature competition at AFF.

OK, that date is obviously the Austin Film Festival world premiere.  Damn, I wish I could go!

IMDb is showing a theatrical release date for TOWH of 10/25/13.  I have very serious doubts about that.  But maybe we'll find something out soon, like maybe it'll be available on VOD.

Dads is terrible.  I'm embarrassed for those guys.

American Horror Story was robbed at the Emmys!  Only James Cromwell won.  Jessica Lange was so freakin' amazing.  And so was Sarah Paulson.  I thought for sure they were a lock.

Amber posted this pic of her and America Ferrara.  Having a "sleepover".

I like angst.  I like real.  I like romantic DRAMAS, which I feel are rare things.  Most romantic dramas have a supernatural aspect.  Think about that for a minute.  And it kind of drives me crazy that a basic, human romantic drama can't succeed.  They do exist.  But isn't it funny how they're mostly indies?  And mostly coming-of-age?

I can't believe how close I've been to Toronto without actually going to Toronto.  Well, we were on a different mission, so...

Lindsey, I have a feeling you and I will meet one day.  I don't know why.  Just something I've always thought.   smile

I totally forgot about Like Crazy.  Thanks for reminding me.  I wanted to see it.  It sounded really sweet.  Lemme know what you think when you watch it.

I have the same feeling Anne.  That little show changed my life in a lot of ways.  The people I've met.  Getting to interview some of my favorite actors.  It's been quite a ride!

What he said was in response to me asking him about how Keith was portrayed in that final shot, in custody.  Up to that point, he was portrayed as party boy but basically decent, refusing to participate in the murder and all.  And then in that last shot, he sits there looking so smug.  Like he really is a bad dude after all, just gloating.  I asked Nick how that shot was consistent with what we'd seen of the character up to that point.  I can't remember the exact quote (it was 7 years ago), but he said something like, "He's both of those guys; the one who was caught in the middle of something and got in way over his his head, and the one who was a smug jerk in interrogations.  He's a complicated dude.  Like most of us, I guess."

Were you aware that Susan Markowitz spoke well of you and your mom in her book?  I actually loaned my copy to Marquette's mom, so I can't pull the exact quote, but it was something about how your mom was the only one to apologize to her and show her kindness during the trials.  And she hoped that you could make a good life for yourself now that you've served your time.

BTW, you don't have to censor yourself in this thread.  It has a language warning on it and we're not prudes anyway.

I'm sure I'll come up with some specific questions once I have a chance to process the fact that I'm actually talking to YOU.

#192 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 12 Sep 13 :: 18:55

HA!  Hi Graham.  Great first post.  It's nice to "meet" you and see you here on the old message board.  I'm sure we'll have some interesting conversations to come.

For anyone who's not sure what the heck we're talking about, this is Graham.  He's the young man whom Chris's character, "Keith" in Alpha Dog was based on.  So if you have any questions, he's your guy.

Graham, I'd love to hear more about your alternative account of the events.  BTW, I think you're a terrific writer.  I used to read your posts on MySpace a few years back.  You've got your own cool way with words and you're funny.

Tina's right, I did go to a screening in 2006 with Nick Cassavetes in attendance.  He said you were a complicated dude.

I've been missing Adam & Joan lately.  I miss watching them and I definitely miss writing them.

Also, that was a long time ago.  He could've gotten a Getty account by now even if they didn't merge with Wire.

I was gonna ask Larry.  But he's at the Toronto Film Fest right now.  I won't bother him about it till he's back and finished blogging all his stuff.

I can send it to you via YM.  It'll have to be tomorrow though.  I'm about to pass out.  Gotta go to bed.

I like the symmetry of the face fuzz that day.  The mustache makes the whole thing work for me --- way more than that Lincoln fuzz.
