Crossing my fingers!
I have no idea who Garla Gugino and Tommy Davidson are, but Tony Shaloub is a former co-star (Tic Code!!!), so he's not THAT random. ![]()
But Chris not being there is disappointing, yeah. Maybe he's not happy with the movie, either. Poor boy! He needs better projects! (Not that you all don't know that ...)
I'm still jealous. I want to go back to Cali, too. Or back to London. Or just abroad. I'm so tired of being stuck in Germany. (Sorry for the rant.)
Nah, I don't thinks that's the reason. It's just that they are an OV theatre for people who like their movies undubbed and Stuttgart has already a few American military bases who cover the horror genre already pretty good with their own theatres, so the Americans living here don't come to this theatre a lot for those movies. There are a lot of other movies that go very well, like family stuff for example. At least that's what the owner told me last night. And maybe Germans don't like undubbed horror movies that much. I mean, look at me. ![]()
They are only a small independent theatre and they get a lot of posters of movies they can't show in the end because there are no English copies available.
Black Swan is good, really disturbing, not for the faint of heart, but Natalie's performance is truly amazing.
Dude! It's almost 3am here and I'm still wide awake because of the movie! It seriously blew me away!
Natalie Portman was AWESOME!!! I could hardly believe it was the same actress I knew from all those kid movies she used to make. Like the one where she played that pregnant teenager, whatwasthenameagain ... Where The Heart Is. And Anywhere But Here, of course. Oh, and I just found out she was in Cold Mountain, too. It's not that long that I watched that movie but somehow I must have totally missed her. LOL Not to forget Garden State. Loved her in that one. But Black Swan is just ... Wow. If she doesn't win the Oscar for that, then I don't know.
Whereabouts in Germany are you from? Stuttgard is just to the west of centre yeah?
No, it's more south the centre, I'd say. Stuttgart belongs to the part of South Germany that is NOT Bavaria. Yes, there's a part of the south that's not Bavaria. LOL I know I keep repeating myself, but I'm so annoying that most foreign people think South Germany = Bavaria. It's not! I'm not a Bavarian! LOL
Well, back to topic. I think Frankfurt works as the centre of Germany, yeah. Of course Stuttgart is not that popular in the world, although it has a pretty big airport. You can even fly directly to Atlanta, I found that out recently. ![]()
Can I post a list of what DVD I would LOVE to buy instead of the ones I bought recently? LOL
I went to my theatre today to see Black Swan and I spotted the movie poster hanging on the wall there. But then I asked the owner about when it's going to be shown there and he said it's not even likely that they will get the movie since the horror genre isn't really going well at the theatre. Oh, great. But based on what you said, Deb, I won't miss much anyway.
In other, BETTER news, there was also the 127 hours poster hanging there and this movie will VERY LIKELY be shown there, so you can guess where I will be the day they're going to start showing it! ![]()
So far I have seen Inception and The Social Network, tonight I'm going to see Black Swan finally and in February I'm definitely going to see The King's Speech. It opens here just 10 days before the Big Show (aka The Oscars, LOL), so I hope I'll get to see it before that. And it bugs me that I have to wait until April for 127 hours, but that's Germany. You always have to wait ages for the good stuff.
So I really hope my little OV theatre will have it. It's always a bit of a surprise if they will have a movie or not.
Maybe the problem is that the majority of Germans is older then 30 years and they never learned English properly or something like that. LOL Or maybe it's because the OV theatres are only in places where there is still some foreign military stuff. Like Stuttgart has a few of those still. My mom and I used to go to this American base where they played theatre. It was fun and I was able to talk some English. The sad thing is, when we went there I was still too young to really talk to the people and my English wasn't as great as it is now, but nowadays we don't go there anymore. Maybe we should do that again.
I know Berlin and Munich are two beautiful places in Germany, but you haven't seen the place I live in - it's pretty boring and ugly here. LOL
May I just add one thing: While I still think The Social Network is a good movie, it's not exactly Oscar material (at least to me), I was still surprised that Andrew Garfield got snubbed for his performance. He should have been nominated, too. That's the one person I would have given the oscar to for that movie. Nothing against Eisenberg, I really like him, but not in that movie.
Whoops, just checked the website again, and now it says 7 bucks. Well, still tempting. But I just HATE the dubbing voices! Trust me, you wouldn't like to hear them, Kate. They're just AWFUL!!! ![]()
My aversion against dubbed stuff developed so far by now, I even hate German DVD covers. That's why I like to order American DVDs online. I know it's crazy but in this case I am like that. LOL If only CD-WOW would lower the prize. I'd order it right now. *sigh*
Just read this on Kate Walsh's Twitter:
Grateful to be co-hosting planned parenthood's "birth control matters" w/Amber Tamblyn!!
I watched the announcement live earlier. Some categories really offer hard decisions! But I think I'll be hoping for Colin Firth this year, sorry.
So amazon Germany is offering the German DVD for 3 bucks. I am seriously tempted. *sigh*
Eddie. Sounds ... ok. Not like something I'd name a new laptop after, though. LOL
I liked "Making Spawn" best.
LOL That could even work as an alternative title!
Oh yeah, these tweets made me LOL big time! ![]()
Aw, ok, the graphic I designed last night isn't half as cute as this, but I hope it's at least a bit funny for you, too.
I know it looks kind of crappy but that was everything I was able to do with that Fake PhotoShop program Cooper has installed. I guess I should work more with that thing or just install something else.

Ah, okay. Glad I was able to help. You know, everything is dubbed into German in Germany, probably because most of the people are to lazy to read subtitles. Or to learn prober English. LOL That's why I'm happy that I found a little theatre that plays most of the movies in their original language (aka English for me), so I don't have to see any dubbed movies in the cinema. There's just nothing I can do about the TV, so I kind of stopped watching German TV. ![]()
Hey Simon, glad to see you back! *waves*
Well, how can I explain a PreTeenDubbingVoice? LOL It's a very highpitched German speaking voice that does not sound like Chris at all. But the people who are responsible for the dubbing here always do that. They give characters like Linderman voices that sound "nerdy" in their opinion, no matter what the actor's original voice sounds like. That's another reason why I hate dubbing. Especially when it comes to Chris. It makes him sound like he hasn't reached puberty yet. Gah! I hate that!
I thought he was very funny. I really like Ricky. I don't have a problem with crude or borderline humor as long as it's funny. He's funny.
Same here. I didn't have any problems with his jokes. And hey - if the people who asked him to host the show didn't like him - why did they hire him? :clueless:
Wow, looks like everybody is going to San Diego lately. A friend of mine moved there in December to go to university for a year. I wish I could have joined her. *sigh*
HAve a great trip, Tina.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. I'm a bit late here, but I was kind of busy today, sorry. (BTW, it's after midnight here, that means -> HAPPY BIRTHDAY TINA! I'll post my graphic later, it's still in the making unfortunately.)
And yeah, I did have fun and cake - I mean, as much fun you can have in the hospital you were born at 28 years ago. LOL We didn't really celebrate because noone was there and well, my mom is still in hospital. She needs a second operation, which will take place on Wednesday, I think. And one of my brothers is currently on vacation anyway with his girlfriend. Wait, no, now she's actually his financée. They got engaged just the day before my birthday. And no, this time it's not the one who brought his wife from Africa (and gloriously failed, hahaha.), it's the other one. This makes me happy because the wedding will definitely be this year, that means I will finally be attending my first wedding ever!
Ok, now I have to check out the rest of the new posts and then I'll finish the graphic for Tina and catch some sleep.
