#176 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x08 Friday Night » 21 Nov 07 :: 08:05

They had most of the first season screening on a Tuesday night in New Zealand. But then they stopped for awhile and then stopped again, and then moved to a friday night for the last few episodes. And that was just for season 1. Season 2 wasn't even showed for another year and a half and was put on at like saturday afternoon at a crap time.

I guess it didn't even have very much luck here. sad I honestly don't know why though, it was a good show. A very good show. Just didn't get all that much appreciation, I suppose.

#177 Re: Joan of Arcadia » 2x08 Friday Night » 20 Nov 07 :: 06:08

I gotta say, I didn't know who to be mad at in that episode, Adam for being an asshole, or Joan for yelling at Adam when he was already so upset. It was quite emotionally taxing.

#178 Re: Off Topic Stuff » amazing books » 06 Nov 07 :: 04:47

Yeah, I prefer books that don't scrimp on the reality to make it easier for the readers to handle. Many of the books that I've read and consider to be great books have parts that can be hard to handle.

Jeez, Chris does look so hot in that trailer...

Very much looking to this movie. If I can ever see it...I'm sure I will though, someday. smile

#181 Re: Off Topic Stuff » amazing books » 05 Nov 07 :: 04:24

I like Jodi Picoult's books, I thought My Sisters Keeper was good, but I didn't like the ending. Kind of felt like a cop out to me. She is a good author though.

#183 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 27 Oct 07 :: 08:43

I liked the Grace luke relationship because it wasn't obvious. Forgetting what you said about the brother/best friend thing, which I never really noticed, Grace and Luke are completely different. The whole silence scene dialogue pretty much explains it, yet they work. Adam and Joan were an obvious match, dragged out, sure, because you knew they were going to get together eventually but there had to be some tension beforehand. But they follow the course of a standard couple that you can predict a couple of episodes in. Again, I really like Adam/Joan, but once they got together it was kind of like, "oh, cool." and my interest began to drop a little. The build up rocked and so did the do the math end scene.

Whereas Grace/Luke, the build up was nicely done and I enjoyed it, but when they got together I was just as, if not more, interested as them.

I think really it comes down to the fact that I, personally, connected with Grace and Luke as a couple more than Adam/Joan. They weren't your average tv teen couple, in fact they were really far from it, and I liked that about them, and that's part of what endeared me to them.

#184 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 27 Oct 07 :: 04:51

It's interesting how people can perceive the two relationships in completely opposite ways. But if I were to classify one relationship as deeply connected and one as high school romance, I would put Grace & Luke for the former and Adam/Joan for the latter.

Like I said before, s1 and s2 were very different for me, the couple priority switched. I always liked both but, from the scene at the end of silence is when Grace & Luke really clicked for me, whereas with Adam and Joan, although Do The Math had a very cool ending scene, I still got into the silence G/L scene more than A/J's one.

I think you guys are definitely in the majority with A/J though, which is cool.  I feel like I got a lot out of JoA relationship wise, since I loved both the main couples.

#185 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 27 Oct 07 :: 03:00

I actually like Luke & Grace more than Adam & Joan. Don't kill me...lol. It's funny cos I started out liking Adam/Joan more in s1, but switched to liking G/L more in s2. I also liked Adam more in s1, but still love him in season 2.

Oh hey congratulations, Anne, that is awesome.

#187 Re: Off Topic Stuff » amazing books » 11 Oct 07 :: 05:50

Oh, you don't know how shocked I was when I read that Brad Pitt was supposed to play Henry!  He does so NOT look like I imagined him! But I have to say, I am not convinced about the new guy either. Can't they just wait a few years until Chris could play him?

Haha yeah, Chris isn't how I imagined Henry though, but I would definately not complain if he got the part (in like ten years time) I always thought Christian Bale would've been a good Henry. Eric Bana is too hollywood good looking, but better than Brad Pitt, I wouldn't have been able to watch if he'd been Henry.

I'll keep Twilight in mind for future reading I think, I'm reading a couple of good books right now. smile

#188 Re: Off Topic Stuff » amazing books » 10 Oct 07 :: 11:07

The Time Traveller's wife was an awesome book. I wanted them to make it into a movie, but I know it's never going to be the way I would have wanted it. Rachel McAdams is a great actress, although she's not how I saw Clare. And I wasn't too pleased about the casting of Eric Bana but, I'm getting over it...slowly. It's just when the casting is far off how I envisioned it, it doesn't exactly bode all that well.

It was never going to be as good as the book though.

And I've never read Twilight, what's the premise?

#189 Re: Joan of Arcadia » Random JoA Stuff... » 08 Oct 07 :: 05:29

I like weird Adam more, he carrys some or that weirdness/morbidness (whatever you wanna call it) through.  It's what makes him not just another ordinary teen character.

#190 Re: Chris On Screen » Miscellaneous Stuff » 04 Oct 07 :: 02:56

all the actors I like have a tendency for horror movies. Least Chris does a lot of other stuff as well.

No, I'm here too.   And so is Sean, I think.   But we are the odd ones out.

Yuppers! Count me in as a fan too. wink

Veronica Mars rocks, I'm a huge L/V fan, but just the show altogether is pretty damn awesome. And, the good side affect of being behind, I've still got just over one season left to go. Gutted it was canned though.

#193 Re: All About Chris » How does Chris prefer to be credited in his films? » 09 Sep 07 :: 12:32

Chris getting called Marquette completely reminds me of Grace calling everyone by their last names in JoA.

#194 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Top 5 actors » 09 Sep 07 :: 12:20

When I think of Jared Leto, I think of My So-Called Life, which was an awesome show, he was really good in that. His music is 'eh'.

as for my favourite actors, I'm not really sure if I can pull a list off the top of my head but, I do know that Milo Ventimiglia, Rider Strong, Will Friedle, Jason Behr, and Chris 'course, would be in there.
