Not creative enough for this one, unfortunately. Never was much of a storyteller. I do, however, love to read what you all write, so keep it up! smile

Oh man, too many people to name. I have a bit of an actor fetish.

Oooh, nice find Deb! It looks interesting. I'm way excited to see Chris in this, and I'm actually really looking forward to seeing Sean, Michael, and Aaron as well. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later.

Deb, I'm so sorry about Lacey. I've lost pets a few times in my life so far, and I know it's one of the hardest things to go through. What a great photo of her, too.

I'm glad you're posting again, and I hope you start feeling better soon smile

Wow, those look great! You're quite good with photo editing TeeJay, I must say. smile

#259 Re: Introduce Yourself » Our little questionnaire ::: Come on in and answer it » 16 Jun 07 :: 16:49

Welcome Lizzy! Loved reading your answers to the questionnaire, you sound just like us! Your parents sound like my Dad and I, we have an insane amount of movies. I think I started collecting DVDs when I was 10 or 11. I haven't been buying as many recently because I'm saving up for a new desktop.

Ohio is pretty awesome. I've been there twice, though I mainly visited for Cedar Point. My friends and I are big roller coaster fans, and that park has got some of the craziest around. Love it there.

I hope you stick around! big_smile

And Brenna, you have The Yearbook?!?!?!!?  yikes  I am so jealous!!!  I want that soooooooooooooooo bad!  Is it still like $150?

Ugh, it's such a pretty set. And yeah, I think I bought it for around that price. It's extremely expensive, but I absolutely *love* it. Took me forever to save up for it, lol.

And as for Paul, any of you guys seen him in Too Young To Be A Dad?  That's the first thing I ever saw him in.  He's wonderful.  And you know, I never realized he was the kid in L.I.E.  I confess I've always been a bit afraid of that movie.

Yep, I actually own Too Young to Be a Dad. I'm definitely not a fan of Lifetime movies, but he was great in it. If I remember correctly, he was the only actor in it that wasn't at all cheesy. L.I.E. is a tough one, I'm sure it's not for everyone. It addresses a really controversial subject matter and humanizes a character that you want to view as a monster. The performances are amazing, though.

Hah, I don't really blame you. What about Canada? tongue

I love indies too, it just bugs me that you never get to see those movies, especially in Germany because they only come to those independent film festivals  which I either don't know about or they are to far away. roll

Yeah, that's gotta be tough. It's hard enough to wait for their release in the US. I think it would drive me nuts if I had to wait even longer than everyone else.

Hey, Jay Baruchel is in Knocked Up too!!

Yep! He's great in it. He's another one of Judd's old friends. Both Jay and Seth Rogen were in a show that Judd did called Undeclared. It was pretty brilliant, but, sadly, cancelled in its first season sad

#265 Re: Square Eyes » Little Miss Sunshine » 15 Jun 07 :: 22:42

Hahaha, so true. I love indies because they're usually so much better than the widely released studio films, but I get really impatient waiting for them. Luckily, I don't think we'll have to wait any longer than necessary for Infestation.

Don't even get me started on Freaks & Geeks!  Apatow is a genuis.

That he is. Freaks & Geeks is quite possibly my favorite television show ever. I have this beautiful collection of the show that they call the yearbook. It's really expensive, but I'm so glad I have it. I've still never gotten over its cancellation. Same with Arrested Development.

I have to admit that LMS and Girl Next Door are really the only two things I've seen Paul Dano in so far, but even from those I can tell he's a great actor. Up there in the same boat with Chris, I guess.

Paul does a lot of quirky indie films, so I'm not surprised that you haven't seen him in much else. He's really fantastic, though. Like Chris, he's quite versatile. I remember being excited as hell when I found out that they were going to be in The Girl Next Door together, lol.

#267 Re: Square Eyes » Little Miss Sunshine » 15 Jun 07 :: 21:35

Ah, Little Miss Sunshine is amazing. I'm guessing I've seen it at least eight times by now, since I find myself showing it to anyone who tells me they've never seen it. Paul's another one of my favorite actors. He won me over when I was fourteen and saw L.I.E. for the first time. Great film.

Deb, I'm with you! Steve Carell is awesome! I'm totally into The Office. Totally into John Krasinski as well. Haha.

I'm a huge Judd Apatow fan and have been since his Freaks & Geeks days. Knocked Up is hilarious, and at the same time, it's a really sweet romantic comedy. I liked it even better than I liked 40-Year-Old Virgin smile I hope you get to see it soon!

#269 Re: Off Topic Stuff » mysterious skin » 06 Jun 07 :: 00:47

Mysterious Skin is another one of my all-time favorite movies. It's also one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen, but I think it was an important topic to cover. It's not for everyone, though. I think a lot of people would take serious offense with the subject matter. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is absolutely fantastic in it, proving to me that he is worth all of the critical acclaim that he's been given. He's an actor who knows how to pick his projects. And I agree, Gregg Araki, the director, was also outstanding.

Actually, when I walked out of the theaters after seeing Alpha Dog, I was reminded of how I felt at the end of Mysterious Skin. I had that sort of sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and couldn't stop thinking about it for a long time afterwards. And that still happens when I rewatch it.

Irina, it seems we have a similar taste in movies!

#270 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 05 Jun 07 :: 21:50

Oh, Liberty Heights is a good one! I quite enjoyed it. In fact, I should try to get my hands on it again, it's been a long time since I last saw it. Hostage I haven't seen yet, but it's definitely on my "need-to-see" list.

#271 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 05 Jun 07 :: 21:49

Haha! My dad and I are big movie buffs, and we've been watching films together since I was two or three. Somewhere along the line, we found out we didn't get uncomfortable watching movies with language, sex, or violence together. It's the same with the rest of my family, to be honest. I remember that I sat down with my mom, my stepdad, and my 14-year-old brother last year and we all watched American History X. lol

#272 Re: The Bullhorn » A Brief History Of The Dorquettes » 05 Jun 07 :: 21:44

I'm not sure if I'm officially a Dorquette yet, so I can't be sure if my opinion is valid (lol), but I'd agree and say the second of those last two graphics is the best. Looks like it will make a really great shirt big_smile

#273 Re: Chris On Screen » Alpha Dog (STRONG LANGUAGE & ADULT CONTENT) » 05 Jun 07 :: 21:34

Awesome that you got to see Alpha Dog Irina smile I totally understand why you feel the need to talk about it. I still find myself chatting about it to people -- I recently praised my aunt for having it on her Netflix queue, then forcefully suggested she move it up on the list so she could get it sooner lol.

My dad was with me when I first went to see the movie, and a few minutes after Chris's character showed up, he looked at me and whispered, "That kid is such a chameleon actor." Dad had been the one to introduce me to Joan of Arcadia, so he was familiar with Chris from the show. He also has an understandable liking for The Girl Next Door. But he, of course, doesn't take an active interest in him like I do. Still, I'm glad people who aren't as attentive to Chris's career are able to recognize that he's never the same character.

Ben Foster had one of the best performances in Alpha Dog, in my opinion. When I was really young I watched him in a show called "Flash Forward", and I've kept up with him since. He pretty much rocks. He was outstanding in a movie he did called Bang Bang You're Dead, if anyone is looking for a movie recommendation.
