Ha wow Rochelle...5 snakes this summer already??? Honestly i have only encountered about that many in my lifetime in the wild. But i have held about 6 or so pet snakes before. And in a year 10 science lab class we had this guy that reminded me of the nuttiness of Steve Irwin and he brought a sack of snakes that would have been about 20 or so. But the bit that freaked me out was that he had the brown snake (which is not always brown!) and the copperhead, and then proceeded to tell us that they hadnt had their fangs removed. One bite from these snakes would kill you VERY quickly. So i have been pretty lucky when it comes to snakes.

And dolphins are pretty tough, usually swim in packs too. But the seals are the most amazing. The dolphins tend to just swim past you and ignore you, but seals are so curious and they will swim right up to you to get a better look at you and WOW amazing. Yeah snorkeling is amazing. Visit the Great Barrier Reef, which is high up on the east coast of Australia. It is far too shallow to be worrying about sharks and you still get to have the greatest veiws.

Sharks dont worry me too much. I generally stay shallow enough that its not that much of a problem. Seen my fair share of stingrays though. Oh and jelly fish and ocotpus. Thankfully never a blue ringed octopus though. Now THOSE things scare me.

The salt water will hurt your eyes if you arent used to it. But masks help. Or else just playing around in the ocean where you can stand is still amazing! And im going to stop rambling now.

Oh and Rochelle...love the name. It was actually originally going to be my name. But it was my mum fighting against my dad for it, and she was eventually told  "Fine, you call her Rochelle and im calling her Rocky." So somehow after all that i ended up with Kate.

Awesome....now i just gotta avoid this thread till i have watched enough that i wont get spoilers tongue

#629 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Dreams... snakes » 15 Jul 09 :: 07:24

Ha! If you ever do get round to visiting let me know smile I am right down on the south east coast. And as far as snakes go its fairly easy. Snakes arent usually aggressive unless they are hungry or you appear to attack them in someway. So its just a matter of watching where you step while out in the bush and make sure if you are camping to zip everything up completely. No stepping in shoes without checking first! But you wont see any snakes in the city. Hahah yeah our animals here can be very very scary. So many poisonous things. I think its like the most poisonous snakes, spider, jelly fish, octopus....but meh, i have lived here all my life without issue.

And NOOOOOO you have to swim in the ocean. Just gotta know where to go. But seriously there is nothing better. I have lived all my life about 5 mins drive from the beach and used to go to highschool where the beach was so close we would walk there for Phys Ed class. I LOVE the beach. The ocean is so amazing. Growing up where i have i find it hard to believe that some people have never seen the ocean. We had an exchange student stay with my family a few years back from Japan and when we took her to the beach she just cried. I can not promote the beach enough. I have been swimming in the wild with dolphins and seals before and i swear its an experience you will never forget.

GAH! Reading these posts makes me wanna watch this show. Man i hate Aus TV sometimes. Its only on cable TV and i dont have cable sad Its so frustrating that so many shows are just not available in Australia. Box Sets are my only hope. *sigh* How far into the series is it? Will i be able to get season one on DVD yet?

#632 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Dreams... snakes » 15 Jul 09 :: 07:00

Taylor, if you are scared of snakes then dont go to the outback of Australia. I think we have like 8 out of the top 10 most deadly snakes or something like that. Even i am very careful camping. But i actually dont mind snakes that much. I actually think they are kinda cool. The pet ones though, in the wild its a little different!

Hahaha yup i have seen A Guide To Recognising Your Saints and thought it was fantastic. However Deb I cant see watching it any time soon. She has a deep hatred of one of the stars. "Sheephead" as she affectionately calls him. But her loss. Brilliant movie.

Anywho, read your answers and thats all well and good but it just makes me realise there are no personal questions there. So Taylor, where are you from? and just the general who are you??? Do tell smile

#640 Re: Square Eyes » All Things Michael Welch » 14 Jul 09 :: 01:35

Hahaha! I was already a fan of Michael Welch before that.....and now i am in love. There is nothing more appealing to me than someone willing to make a fool of themselves while having fun. Thanks for the post Simon wink

#641 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 14 Jul 09 :: 01:18

Hahaha ive done that ice bucket thing for physiology studies.....NOT FUN. It wasnt my hand though, my foot. And my foot stayed purple for like 5 minutes even after it was out of the ice water.

#642 Re: Square Eyes » Post your recent DVD purchases » 13 Jul 09 :: 00:51

OH OH OH without doubt my favourite movie of all time is Stand By Me. I havent seen it in awhile though....think i might dig it out and watch it again!

#643 Re: Square Eyes » Films you have no interest in seeing. 2009 & above. » 12 Jul 09 :: 06:15

I think the actual person, not the characters is so beautiful and incredibly intelligent and has such insight. To manage to put himself as a minority to single out the stupidity of the majority of the public was magnificent. I am a massive fan of Sasha Baron Cohen, but i can see why people dont enjoy him. I am not even sure myself if i will watch Bruno. But i can definitely see what Isla Fisher sees in him though wink

#644 Re: Chris On Screen » The Education Of Charlie Banks » 12 Jul 09 :: 06:07

I know exactly what you mean TeeJay and agree completely

#646 Re: Off Topic Stuff » Randomness » 10 Jul 09 :: 01:37

Hey Simon, Just checking in....how are you feeling?? Also, might be a little late, but thats generally what happens with time differences. Bodhi is SO cute. Oh i love puppy dogs!

HAHAHAHA This screen cap alone was enough to have me buy the DVD "Secret Men's Business" from EBay. And im not nearly as dirty as it sounds. All 3 of those actors are AMAZING. Simon Baker is probably the most well known. But whoa, Marcus Graham and Ben Mendehlson are both so talented. I am a such a sucker for Aussie talent.

#650 Re: Square Eyes » Post your recent DVD purchases » 08 Jul 09 :: 05:36
